New World update 1.0.5 is now live and it fixes a ton of stuff, from combat exploits to item duplication to animation cancellation that let players quick-swap between two magic weapons for massive damage boosts.

But first, Amazon wants to keep the in-game chat clear of coin sellers. They’ve banned many of the reported accounts that were clogging up the chat with coin sales, and have added restrictions to currency transfers and player-to-player trading that will hopefully prevent coin selling in the future, or at the very least make it far less of a problem than it is now.

Accounts younger than 72 hours or under level 10 can no longer trade. This was done as coin sellers were found to be creating new characters and simply transferring their wealth after receiving a ban. Amazon Games has also redistributed some of the coin gain from early quests so that players don’t just quickly do the first parts of the game over and over to sell coins online. On top of all that, new accounts can no longer use the trading post until they’ve finished the “introduction to the trading post” quest.

Next up, combat. New World no longer allows players to have identical weapons in both slots, and the bug that allowed players to cancel the animation on magic weapon primary attacks has been fixed. These changes should effectively remove the quick-swap magic weapon exploit that allowed certain players to do massive damage to bosses.

There are a few other big combat changes. Life Staffs have had their Orb of Protection healing spam nerfed by removing the AOE triggers after the Aegis upgrade. There’s also been a fix to the Resilient perk so that it reduces just critical damage and not all damage as it was doing previously. Passive bonuses like Bloodlust (Great Axe), Against All Odds (Hatchet), and Outnumbered (Warhammer) also no longer scale infinitely with nearby enemies, so expect this to greatly change the PvP meta in New World.

Item duplication via crafting stations and storage sheds has been fixed, as has gold duplication from territory projects. Hopefully, Amazon won’t have to disable trading again to prevent more gold duplication exploits.

There’s also been a bunch of changes to Outpost Rush, including a slight reduction in rewards for the losing team, and also reduced costs for attribute respects, weapon mastery respects, and chisels.
