Here’s a guide to the Next Of Kin cast and their characters. Not to be confused with the 1989 Patrick Swayze action-thriller of the same name (or the cult 1982 Australia horror either), Next Of Kin is a six-part British TV miniseries that aired on ITV in 2018. Created by Natasha Narayan and Paul Rutman, the series is described as a fast-paced family thriller that boasts directing credits from Justin Chadwick (The Other Boleyn Girl) and Jamie Childs.
Set in modern-day London, Next Of Kin stars Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) fame as a physician who lives a charmed life in the British capital with her political lobbyist husband and their son. Their lives are plunged into turmoil when her brother is killed working overseas in Pakistan on the same day a terrorist attack occurs in London. The series has been hailed as an intense thriller that explores the impact of terrorism on a family unit.

Archie Panjabi – Mona Harcourt
The Good Wife star Archie Panjabi nabbed her first lead role in a British TV series playing Mona Harcourt in Next Of Kin. Mona is a family physician living in London whose world is turned upside down when her brother is kidnapped and killed by suspected terrorists in Pakistan on the same day that a bomb attack takes place in London.
Jack Davenport – Guy Harcourt
British actor Jack Davenport plays Mona’s husband Guy Harcourt – a political lobbyist whose career is impacted when his family is suspected of having terrorist sympathies. Davenport has a broad list of movie and TV credits but is best known for his role as James Norrington in the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise.
Shabana Azmi – Mrs Shirani
Mrs. Shirani is Mona’s mother and lives with her daughter, son-in-law and grandson in London. The tough and secretive widow is played by veteran Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi whose other credits include Madame Sousatzka and Bengali Nights.
Navin Chowdhry – Kareem Shirani
The End Of The F***ing World actor Navin Chowdhry plays Mona’s brother Kareem who is murdered by militants while working for a medical charity in Pakistan. Chowdhry’s other credits include Teachers and Doctor Foster.
Viveik Kalra – Danish Shirani
Viveik Kalra rounds out the main Next Of Kin cast and character as Danish Shirani – Mona’s nephew and Kareem’s son who becomes a person of interest to the task force investigating the bombing that occurred the day of his father’s death. Since Next Of Kin, Kalra has had roles in Beecham House and Voyagers.
