Official Pokemon Weddings Bring Pikachu to the Ceremony

Weddings are a big deal for a bride and groom, and these days, weddings often show a little more of a couple’s character, even showcasing their passions and interests. For the Pokemon-crazed, one Japanese wedding company is now offering the opportunity to get hitched with all things Pikachu-themed.

Japanese wedding company Escrit has joined forces with The Pokemon Company to offer official Pokemon-themed wedding ceremonies. As seen in photos shared from the official Japanese Pokemon website, an adorable pair of Pikachu wearing a top hat and a little wedding veil accompany the bride and groom everywhere. But the Pokemon obsession hardly stops there.

Pikachu is everywhere in these weddings. From the Pikachu marriage certificate to decorations at the bride and groom’s table, and even every single food course has a Pikachu flair to it. Pokemon wedding attendees can look forward to gobbling up Pokeball macaroons, Pikachu custard, and even the pastry shell served with steak is in the shape of a Pikachu tail. And of course, the wedding cake itself is adorned with Pokeballs and a pair of Pikachu gazing lovingly at each other.

Gaming-themed weddings are becoming a bit more common these days, and not just as fan-led events. Final Fantasy 14 recently started to offer official wedding ceremonies, going so far as to even offer the bride and groom outfits based off of the in-game wedding clothes in the MMORPG. While this Pikachu wedding doesn’t quite go that far, it makes up for it in nearly every other aspect of the wedding being Pokemon-themed in one way or another.

At this point, there’s no telling if these official weddings will ever be offered in the West. However, that doesn’t stop gamers from spicing up their own weddings with video game themes. Metal Gear Solid’s Snake voice actor, David Hayter, recorded a wedding message for one lucky groom, while others have even used custom-made levels in video games to propose to their loved ones. Of course, any of these are a better idea than following suit with the man who chose to ignore his wedding to play PUBG.
