OnePlus 10 Pro Leak Shows Massive Gain In Charging Speeds

The OnePlus 10 series is still some weeks away from launch, but leaks keep pouring in, and the latest one reveals an impressive 80W fast charging capability for the upcoming flagship. Just a few weeks ago, CAD-based renders said to be of the phone found their way online, revealing its exquisite design from all angles. It looks virtually identical to the OnePlus 9 Pro from the front, but the rear panel is where things get interesting with a half wrap-around camera island.

A few of the phone’s key specifications have also popped up on social media recently. Unsurprisingly, OnePlus is going with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC for its next flagship and will also continue its camera partnership with Hasselblad. The Qualcomm chip will reportedly be ticking alongside 12GB of RAM while storage will be 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 memory. The build is said to be IP68 rated, which means it can handle a few splashes with ease.

Now, reliable leaker Digital Chat Station has posted a few of the core hardware details on Weibo, and what really stands out is the charging wattage numbers. The leaker mentions support for 80W fast charging to juice up the battery, a healthy upgrade from the 65W wired charging rate of the OnePlus 9 Pro. There’s isn’t any improvement when it comes to wireless charging, as the peak wattage is capped at 50W. It is still quite impressive, since flagships from the likes of Apple and Google barely cross the 25W mark, even with a wire plugged in.

A Satisfyingly Boring Upgrade

The latest leak also mentions a 6.7-inch OLED display that offers 2K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. More importantly, it relies on the low-temperature polycrystalline oxide (LTPO) display tech, which means the refresh rate will automatically adjust based on the on-screen content to offer the best visual experience and save battery juice at the same time. The iPhone 13 Pro also relies on the same tech to alter the screen refresh rate between 10Hz and 120Hz. Android 12 will be running things on the software side, with a Color OS 12 skin on top.

As for the rest of the leaked specifications, the OnePlus 10 Pro is said to offer a 48-megapixel main camera on the back, sitting alongside a 50-megapixel ultrawide angle snapper and an 8-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom output. This is likely a regular telephoto lens, and not the periscope zoom system that uses a prism to bend light. There’s also a 32-megapixel camera to take care of selfies and video calls. So far, OnePlus hasn’t said much about its upcoming phone, and if the OnePlus 9 series’ launch window is anything to go by, it is still about three to four months away from an official debut. Interestingly, rumors also point to a OnePlus Pad tablet being in development.
