Specifications for the OnePlus Nord N100 smartphone have now leaked online, suggesting what buyers can expect from the rumored lower-cost addition to the popular OnePlus family. This model is rumored to sell for an incredibly low price of just $200. If true, this will be the lowest-cost phone to come from OnePlus so far. From the company that plans to ‘Never Settle,’ this will be a difficult challenge to pull off.
OnePlus is known to excel at walking the fine line between high-tech components and affordable pricing. In the past, that resulted in phones matching flagship specifications, but at a significantly lower price. The recently announced OnePlus 8T is a good example as it features a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, an 865 processor, along with equally impressive RAM and SSD, all for $749. Adding a new trick, the charger can raise the battery to 60-percent in only 15 minutes. It’s a strong competitor at a great price.
The newest leak related to the OnePlus Nord N100 and comes from Steve Hemmerstoffer who also revealed details on the OnePlus Nord N10 5G earlier. As the Nord N100 is widely expected to sell for around $200, it’s important to recognize that OnePlus cannot work miracles and pull a flagship out of a top hat while keeping the cost so low. However, the specifications for this low-end phone still look good. Most impressive is the 5,000 mAh capacity battery, which is actually larger than what’s rumored for the Nord N10 5G. If the leak is accurate, it will also feature a large 6.52-inch LCD display, and won’t support 5G.
Nord N100 CPU, Storage & Cameras
For a low-cost smartphone, the large battery is very impressive. The reason OnePlus might add such high capacity could be due to the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor which is an 11nm process, meaning it is not as efficient as the 8nm process used in the Nord N10. The RAM is said to be 4-gigabytes, which is not bad, along with 64-gigabytes of storage. Many higher-priced phones start with similar RAM and storage.
Four cameras are expected on this model, with a single selfie, unlike the dual front shooters on the original Nord. The rear may have just three cameras, losing the ultra-wide on the higher priced model, but retaining the 2-megapixel macro and depth cameras, and replacing the high-megapixel main camera with a more standard 13-megapixel wide-angle. The OnePlus Nord N100 could be announced as soon as October 26, 2020.
