Esports Players League (ESPL), a new global esports tournament network and platform has joined Paytm First Games, India’s leading gaming destination in a strategic partnership. The newfound relationship is sure to be mutually beneficial. Paytm First Games is currently the fastest growing gaming destination in India and boasts an impressive half a million daily active gamers that spend between thirty to forty-five minutes per session.

In the last month, Paytm First Games has seen a massive spike in growth by 200 percent with more than 75,000 new users joining the platform daily. Obviously, now is a good time to explore how one can expand an online platform since so much of the world is engaged in the practice of social distancing, which looks to remain in effect for the foreseeable future.

With its consistent growth and overall strong position in the market, Paytm First Games looks to introduce ESPL’s unique, mobile, and online-focused tournaments to gaming enthusiasts throughout India. This includes managing the initial rollout of ESPL’s amateur esports platform in the region, while handling tournaments, the acquisition of additional users, securing local sponsorship and partnership deals, and create local media content.

ESPL meanwhile will support Paytm First Games and its efforts by delivering on the complete tech solutions needed for such an ambitious project, as well as through finding global sponsorships, media deals, and winning esports strategies. This will lead to a quick release of online activity as the first ESPL season is scheduled for May to November of this year.

Speaking about the new partnership is ESPL CEO Michael Broda, who stated, “India has over 300 million gamers and will roll out 5G connectivity in 2020, making the country a key market for ESPL’s rapidly expanding network of amateur esports tournaments that create a bedroom-to-champion pathway for online gamers. We can’t think of a better-positioned partner than Paytm for our expansion into the highly-desirable Indian mobile gaming market.”

Even if the spread of COVID-19 were not keeping people at home, the future of mobile gaming was already on track for continued growth and a massive decade of expansion. Right now, the numbers speak for themselves, as mobile gaming in 2019 saw consumers spending nearly $69 billion on the mobile platform, far more than either PC or console gamers spent on games and related purchases.

As smartphones become even more widely available and 5G networks provide more people with access to the platform, partnerships like this have the potential to capture massive portions of market share. In 2020 and beyond, players should expect to see more expansion of mobile platform gaming with regards to esports.

ESPL is managed by its headquarters in Singapore and regional offices in Cologne and Los Angeles. For more info, visit espl.co or email [email protected].
