Smite used to be a game that allowed you to fulfil your ‘battleground of the gods’ fantasy. Then one day you got smacked on the head by a bo staff wielding Ninja Turtle, had a car thrown at you by Eleven from Stranger Things, and now punched in the face by Optimus Prime. In the MOBA’s latest shift away from traditional deities, Smite has added the Transformers to the game.

The announcement was made via a video showing Zeus and Optimus Prime taking on Megatron and Starscream with the old animated show’s theme playing in the background. As with previous collaborations, these additions will come as cosmetics for already existing characters: Jing Wei will become Starscream, Ra will take on Megatron, and Geb will transform into Optimus Prime. The battle pass for this crossover will launch on November 16.

The most recent character to be added to Smite before this was Charybdis in August. While in Greek mythology Charybdis was a great sea monster akin to Scylla, Smite’s version is a bit different. She is “a girl born from the depths of the sea” and was always planned to be a Physical Hunter. She wields powers like a charge-up strike with a wide attack radius, and has the ability to temporarily transform into a giant whirlpool.

Before that Smite added characters from Netflix’s Stranger Things to the roster. Scylla took on the role of classic Eleven, and one featuring her Starcourt outfit from the latest season. Apollo was the canvas for Hopper’s police department skin, as well as his P.I. hula shirt avatar. The Demogorgon and Mindflayer were added to the game as well, as skins for Bakasura and Sylvanus respectively. The collaboration was revealed during this year’s Summer Game Fest hosted by Geoff Keighley.

As for the Transformers, we last saw them in a collaboration with World of Warships. Unfortunately it did not involve transforming battleships, but the likes of Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Megatron, and Rumble took command of their own themed naval ships. Later on more Transformers like Grimlock, Hot Rod, Soundwave, and Starscream were added.
