The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has officially announced the list of nominations for the 2020 Oscars. While the discussions regarding surprises, snubs, and predictions are well underway, there’s another factor in this year’s nominations that might grab some attention. This will be the first ceremony following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, meaning the media conglomerate gained even more nominations. Here’s every Disney-owned Fox movie that received a nomination.

The 92nd Academy Awards ceremony, scheduled for early February, will once again go without a host. Joker leads the competition with 11 total Oscar nominations. Although there are a few surprise nominations, the often-criticized ceremony is gaining more controversy for their lack of diversity among nominees. There are also a number of 2020 Golden Globe winners who didn’t even score an Oscar nomination, like Taron Egerton for Rocketman and Awkwafina for The Farewell.

As for a breakdown by distribution, Netflix reigns supreme with the most nominations with 24. Disney comes in at a close second with 23 featuring nominations for animated hits like Toy Story 4 and Frozen II as well as box office dominators, Avengers: Endgame and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. That total also includes their subsidiaries like 20th Century Fox and Fox Searchlight Pictures. With Disney now in control of the Fox studio package, they acquired nominations for four additional titles including Ford v Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, Ad Astra, and Breakthrough.

Every Oscar Nomination For Disney-Owned Fox Movies

Jojo Rabbit received the most nominations out of the Fox films now owned by Disney. Besides Best Picture, Jojo Rabbit will fight for a win in the categories for supporting actress (Scarlett Johansson), adapted screenplay, production design, costume design, and film editing. The movie directed by Taika Waititi follows a Hitler Youth member named Jojo who learns that his mother is hiding a Jewish girl in the attic. The comedy-drama will compete against eight other titles for Best Picture along with another Disney-owned title.

Ford v Ferrari scored the most coveted best picture nomination as well as nominations for sound editing, sound mixing, and film editing. The film from 20th Century Fox was directed by James Mangold and stars Matt Damon and Christian Bale as the leaders of a special team hired by Henry Ford II to build a racing car that could defeat Ferrari’s racing team. The movie’s cast also includes Jon Bernthal, Caitriona Balfe, Tracy Letts, Josh Lucas, and Noah Jupe.

As for the other Disney-owned Fox movies, the Brad Pitt-led sci-fi film, Ad Astra, was nominated for sound mixing. The Christian movie, Breakthrough, on the other hand, was nominated for original song. The song in focus is titled “I’m Standing with You” with music and lyrics by Diane Warren. It will go up against songs featured in Toy Story 4, Frozen II, Harriet, and Rocketman. The winners of the 2020 Oscars will be announced on February 9, 2020.
