Paxian Homestead is one of 14 unique Expeditions available in Outriders. These missions act as Outriders’ endgame, providing players with a plethora of loot if they can beat the mission. Not every Expedition is made equal, however.

While not the best Expedition, Paxian Homestead is far from a bad mission. DPS builds will enjoy the sheer onslaught of enemies and how quickly they can kill the final boss. It’s also one of the only Expeditions in the game with a unique boss with mechanics. Those that want to spice up their endgame farming routine can’t go wrong with this Expedition. Here is a complete guide to the Paxian Homestead Expedition in Outriders.

The Paxian Homestead Enemies

There’s a mix of Ferals, Desert Beasts, and Forest Beasts in this mission. The first half of the mission is mainly against Ferals, while the second half is strictly beasts. Crawlers, Sciathans, and quite a few Warlords are present in this mission. Besides a high DPS build, you’ll want a build with high mobility or is relatively tanky. The number of enemies that can freeze or stun you in this mission is incredibly high.

Recommended Abilities And Mods

Devastator

Endless Mass isn’t a bad idea considering how small each of the arenas are, pulling most enemies towards a tight cluster you can then Earthquake or Gravity Leap onto. If you’re attempting this on higher Challenge Tiers, Impale can also save your life due to how many enemies you’ll be facing.



Pyromancer

Due to the nature of this Expedition, Thermal Bomb is a solid choice to pair with your traditional Pyro skills (Overheat, Ash Blast, and Heatwave are a few notable examples). Ash Blast is highly recommended to make the final boss easier to manage.

Technomancer

Blighted Rounds deal too much damage to ignore on a Technomancer. With that said, Cold Snap is fantastic for giving yourself some breathing room. Scrapnel deals some solid AoE damage as well with the right mods.

Trickster

An Anomaly or Firepower build will work well here. Time Rift is a great pick regardless for locking down groups of enemies that have just spawned. If you’re struggling to survive on higher Challenge Tiers, consider running Borrowed Time.

Mods

Snowsquall is highly recommended to give your character some form of crowd control for this mission. Beyond that, one or two survivability mods are recommended. Mitigation from Death and/or Fortress are good options. Like always, AoE weapon mods or anything that scales your damage will do well here.

Opening Encounter

Outriders Paxian Homestead Expedition Guide

The exterior of the homestead is infested with Beasts that you’ll need to kill. Alpha Perforos and fodder Perforo variants are present here. Carve through them. After you kill a few, two Crawlers will rise out of the ground and attempt to freeze you. Take the Crawlers out as soon as you can, as these enemies pose the largest threat.

After a short cutscene, you’ll spawn right next to a Brood Mother alongside a wave of Perforos. The Alphas should be killed first, as they can easily stunlock you if a Brood Mother is around. Once they’re dead, kill the Brood Mother, firing at its heart to disrupt its buffing ability. Eliminate the Sciathans, then kill the enemies that spawn behind you to reveal the path forward.

Homestead

Outriders Paxian Homestead Expedition Guide

This section is filled with Ferals, many of whom are Elites. You’ll face against a Destroyer and Warlord first, with multiple fodder enemies trying to rush you. Additional Warlords and fodder Ferals will spawn soon afterward, charging your location.

When those enemies are dealt with, additional Ferals will spawn on the elevated section of the arena, rising straight out of the ground. You can easily get rushed if you aren’t careful, so either keep your distance or stay aggressive.

After enough waves of Ferals are cleared, two wooden gates at the end of the arena will blow open, revealing Destroyers, Warlords, and Berserkers. Kill the Berserkers first, then kill the Warlord in the right gate entrance. If it tries to inflict Freeze or melees you, use your own melee to become immune to the stagger. With these enemies dead, proceed to the Vineyards through the gate on the right-hand side of the arena, beside the first group of enemies you fought.

Vineyards

It seems one of the Ferals has found a way to use blood magic. The final boss in this zone is the Blood Merchant, and it’s one of the only Expedition bosses with proper mechanics. This boss is accompanied by various Beast types, the notable ones being Crawlers and Sciathans.

Phase One

This boss comes in two phases. In the first phase, it will try to damage you from a distance with AoE blood attacks that deal a high amount of damage. It’s best to get in close and damage the Blood Merchant. When you’re close, the boss will stick to melee attacks to damage you. Each of these hits can stagger. To counter this, use your melee or continuously roll.

During this part, various Beasts will spawn to stunlock you. Alpha Perforos are the most dangerous of the bunch, repeatedly stunning you with their leap and claw attacks. Avoid getting staggered while near the boss. “Kill” the boss to end the first phase.

Phase Two

The Blood Merchant isn’t dead yet. It’ll start teleporting into different bodies in the arena for protection. These possessed enemies are denoted by a red aura around them. You’ll want to kill these enemies to force the Merchant to switch bodies. Repeat this process to get him to spawn.

Before you do so, you’ll want to kill the Crawlers that spawn. Wipe out the remaining enemies, then kill any possessed enemies to spawn the boss. The Blood Merchant will use the same attacks as before, only now Sciathans will try to damage you as well. If you can’t kill the Blood Merchant quickly, eliminate the birds first. If they refuse to land, damage the Sciathan a few times to force a landing. Kill the Blood Merchant and all Beasts to finish the mission.
