Epic Games has hit a huge milestone with A Total War Saga: Troy as it has amassed over 7 million downloads in just 24 hours. With its free launch, players have flocked to the turn-based strategy game and it has exceeded expectations as millions have taken a chance at Creative Assembly’s latest title.
A Total War Saga: Troy is the franchise’s newest game, set during the Bronze Age, during the Trojan War. Players can command their own army just like the previous games in addition to controlling mythical creatures to crush foes. The game presents eight heroes to choose from in two factions: Trojans and Achaeans.
Each hero has their own ability to use during battle. With each progression, players can build a better relationship between the heroes and the Greek gods. Benefits would be given during gameplay with high ratings given by the Gods. Resources would also need to be collected in the game to keep the army ready for battle.
The strategy game was available on Thursday as a free download at the Epic Games Store. This allowed gamers to claim the title within 24 hours before it reverted back to its original price of $49.99. This triumph for Epic Games has given the company a leg up against its rival, Steam. Epic Games has been using a tactic to gain new users by getting developers to release their games exclusively on their platform and it has so far given great results.
Developer Creative Assembly announced the good news in a press release about the huge milestone. “We were optimistic but we couldn’t have predicted this level of excitement,” Rob Bartholomew, Creative Assembly’s Chief Product Officer, said in a statement. It was announced on the game’s Twitter page that the new title would be free for the next 24 hours of release. With this promotion, it has certainly helped the platform reach new heights after gaining some new users.
Unlike the previous games, A Total War Saga: Troy will only available on the Epic Games Store as an exclusive for the next 12 months before releasing on other platforms like Steam.
