With Paper Mario: The Origami King finally out for Nintendo Switch, players are once again enjoying the whimsical adventures of their favorite plumber in paper form. While simply relishing in the story is enough for most fans of the series, there are also hidden treasures and trophies to hunt in order to fully complete the game. As with the other entries in the series, Origami King doesn’t disappoint with over 100 collectible treasures to seek out. So, as you begin your trek through the newly folded Mushroom Kingdom, here are a few collectibles to get you started.

Whispering Woods

This is the first real area you get to explore in Origami King and it holds the first three collectibles you can find.

Collectible 1: Peach’s Castle – To obtain this treasure simply head to the leaf matching mini-game and match all of the leaves to get a Super Star. Grab the Star and head to the left and up some spiked vines to the find your collectible in a treasure chest.

Collectible 2: Mushroom – This collectible is also fairly easy to obtain. Head over to the lake that you used to rehydrate the Soul Seed and you will find this treasure to the left.

Collectible 3: Ol’ Gransappy – This one is a bit trickier to get as it is only available once the main story of the game is completed. In the BBQ logging area of the Whispering Woods, there is a talking house. You will need to grab the Big Shell from the Great Sea and cook it on the BBQ to get this treasure.

Toad Town

This area serves as the central hub for the game. There is quite a lot you can do and collect here, though much is only available after the main story is completed. Here are the fourteen collectibles in this area and where to find them:



Collectible 4: Torch – Once you fight the first Paper Macho enemy, this collectible is hiding under the bridge you come to.

Collectible 5: Camp Speaker – This is found inside a treasure chest in the backyard of one of the cottages in the area.

Collectible 6: Coins – This one is a bit tricky to get to as it is found on top of the Toad Mansion

Collectible 7: Colored Pencils – This treasure can be bought from Mole at the docks once you have defeated the Colored Pencils Boss.

Collectible 8: Rubber Band – This one can also be bought from Mole at the docks once the Rubber Bands Boss is toast.


Collectible 9: Hole Punch – Again, this one can be bought from Mole at the docks once the Hole Punch Boss is defeated.

Collectible 10: Tape – Mole also has this collectible once you defeat the Tape Boss.

Collectible 11: Scissors – Head back over to Mole once Scissors Boss is taken care of.

Collectible 12: Stapler – Good ole Mole has this for you once you do away with the Stapler Boss.

Collectible 13: Log Cabin – You may be tempted to go to Mole, but this one is found on the upper floor of the Toad Mansion. You must rescue all of the Toads in the desert portion of the map to get the owner to unlock the doors leading to this treasure.

Collectible 14: Mario – This treasure is handed over once you return the Manhole hook to the Toad by the sewer.

Collectible 15: Battle Machine – To get this one, you must defeat every boss battle at the Battle Machine in the Battle Lab.

Collectible 119: Princess Peach – This collectible is purchased in the general store once the main story of the game is completed.

Collectible 120: Origami Castle – This treasure is found at the entrance to Toad Town as a reward for completing the main story.

Graffiti Underground

This area is unlocked on your way to Peach’s Castle at the beginning of the game and holds only one collectible.

Collectible 16: Manhole Cover – During the Sewer Level, there will be a place you can use Mario’s 1000-Fold Arms ability to turn a valve. Turning the valve allows you to reach a room under the water level where this treasure awaits.

Picnic Road

This is the name of the route you follow in order to get to the cablecar at the top of Overlook Mountain. There are three collectibles in this area that can easily be overlooked so keep an eye out!

Collectible 22: Shellvation is Near – Once you have completed the main story, this can be purchased from the Accessory shop outside of Earth Vellumental Temple.

Collectible 23: Vellumental Idol – This treasure is purchased from the merchant outside Earth Temple once you have cleared the level.

Collectible 24: Sensor Lab – After cutting the first streamer, this collectible is waiting on the right of Sensor Lab
