Persona 5 might not be coming to Nintendo Switch anytime soon, but it’s now available for PC gamers with a subscription to the PS Now streaming service.
Persona 5 was released for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in 2017, marking a continued tradition of the mainline entries in the series being released on PlayStation platforms. There were rumors that Persona 5 would be coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point (following the reveal of Joker in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate), but the Nintendo fans will only be getting a Musou game called Persona 5 Scramble.
It’s now possible for PC gamers with low-spec machines to be able to play Persona 5, as it has now been added to the PS Now streaming service. According to the PlayStation Blog, the PS Now service has added Hollow Knight, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, and Persona 5 to its line-up for a limited time.
It’s now possible to play those games on a Windows machine, as there is a PS Now app that is available to subscribers. The basic requirements for PS Now are a PC that uses Windows 7 or later, 2GB or more of RAM, and at least a Core i3 2.0 GHz CPU, as well as a minimum of 5Mbps Internet speed in order to handle the service. A PlayStation 4 DualShock controller is also required to run PS Now. Currently, a seven-day trial available for PS Now. If you’re curious about the service, now is a great time to try it out.
It might seem strange for Sony to want to put one of its prized exclusives up on a streaming service, but it won’t be long until Persona 5 diminishes in value. An updated version of the game called Persona 5 Royal is due out early next year and all of the attention will be focused on that. There won’t be much interest in purchasing Persona 5 after Persona 5 Royal comes out, so it makes sense to use the game to market PS Now and possibly bring in more fans in time for the release of Persona 5 Royal.
Persona 5 is available on PS Now until February 4, 2020.
