Nervous and insecure, Yuuki Mishima is a member of Shujin Academy’s notorious volleyball team who later creates and maintains The Phantom Aficionado Website (aka, the Phan-Site) to support The Phantom Thieves following the Kamoshida incident. Here is a spoiler-free guide on how to max out his confidant in Persona 5 Royal.

Availability

Though Mishima is introduced pretty early on, his confidant doesn’t become available until 5/6. He is first available in Shibuya, then Shinjuku, and finally Akihabara.

Typically, he is available at nighttime every day of the week. He is also available during the day on rainy days. However, his availability changes depending on if the Thieves have completed his Mementos requests or not, so don’t forget about completing those.

Note that there are some events that cannot happen on rainy days.

Perks

In addition to receiving battle perks, leveling up with Mishima also unlocks Mementos requests via text messages from him. If you’re looking to complete all requests or are trying to level grind as much as possible, make sure to keep that in mind.

• Rank 2 || Mishima’s Support: Allows backup members to earn EXP.
• Rank 3 || Mishima’s Enthusiasm: Increases EXP earned from battle.
• Rank 5 || Mishima’s Desperation: Increases EXP earned by backup members.
• Rank 7 || Phanboy: Greatly increases EXP earned from battle.
• Rank 10 || Salvation Wish: Allows backup members to earn the same EXP as current party members.

Rank-Up Events

As with every confidant, having a persona of a corresponding arcana will increase the number of points you earn with them by one. The point increases with a Moon persona on hand are indicated in brackets next to the regular increases as such:

However, it is important to note that your rank-up events with Mishima will be unlocked based on the number of Mishima-given Mementos requests you have completed, not the number of affinity points you gain.

Therefore, it is not necessary to bring a Moon persona with you when hanging out with Mishima.

Non-Rank Invited Hangouts

On one occasion, Mishima will text Joker to hang out with him somewhere. While these hangouts will not increase your rank, you will still receive affinity points. Replying to Mishima’s messages immediately will incur a 1.2x increase in affinity points. All the same parameters for bonuses apply to non-rank hangouts as well.

11/3 – Hanging Out at Suidobashi (Dome Town)

Unavailable if you haven’t unlocked the Tower Confidant (Shinya Oda).

Make sure to equip a Tower persona with you, as Shinya will also be present.
