The Pixel 6 Pro is not the smallest or lightest phone around, but it’s not the heaviest either. Smartphones have been increasing in size in recent years as makers look to offer the consumer more screen real estate. Some of this is made possible through the maximizing of an all-display design. In other cases, it is simply a matter of increasing the size. While there has also been some emphasis placed on thinner smartphone designs recently, some larger models just cannot escape their heavier build.

Google’s Pixel phone line has been around since 2016 when the original Pixel and Pixel XL models were released. Since then, the lineup has expanded to include an a-series, and gone through a number of revisions. More recently, the Pixel series has seen a dropping of the XL in favor of a Pro model. The standard Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro do share many of the same features, but the Pro does also comes with additional camera benefits, a larger screen, and a heavier footprint.

The Pixel 6 Pro weighs 210 grams (7.41 ounces), according to Google, and compares to the 207 grams of the standard Pixel 6. Again, this difference in weight is likely to be the result of the additional hardware included with the Pro model, such as the 48-megapixel telephoto camera and the 6.7-inch QHD+ display. Overall, the Pixel 6 Pro measures 6.5 inches in height, 3 inches in width and 0.4 inches in depth. For reference, the smaller and lighter Pixel 6 measures 6.2 inches in height, 2.9 inches in width and 0.4 inches in depth. It should be noted that the dimensions and weights are not exactly guaranteed, with Google explaining how they can “vary by configuration and manufacturing process.”

A Heavy Phone, But Not The Heaviest

The Pixel 6 Pro is a heavy phone and will only get heavier if it is padded out with a case and a screen protector. For perspective, the standard Galaxy S21 from Samsung weighs just 169 grams, making it much lighter than even the standard Pixel 6 smartphone. In fact, the Galaxy S21+ comes with a larger screen than the standard Pixel 6, but still only tips the scales at 200 grams, resulting in a lighter smartphone than both new Pixel phones. However, things start to change when venturing into Ultra territory. At 227 grams, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is heavier than both the standard Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, and by some margin.

A similar pattern tends to emerge if comparing the weight of the Pixel 6 Pro with Apple’s iPhone 13 series. For example, the standard iPhone 13 weighs in at 174 grams making it considerably lighter than the standard Pixel 6, let alone the Pixel 6 Pro. Surprisingly, the same is also true with the iPhone 13 Pro, at 204 grams, it is a few grams lighter than the standard Pixel 6. However, the iPhone 13 Pro Max really is a heavyweight phone weighing in at 240 grams. At this weight, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is heavier than all of the other iPhone 13 models, all of the Galaxy S21 phones, as well as both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro.
