Sony has announced the next PlayStation State of Play event, scheduled for October 27. The showcase will kick off next Wednesday, less than a weeks time, and start at 2 pm PT/10 pm BST.
The broadcast will focus on third-party games coming to both PS4 and PS5, as well as updates coming to already released titles. There are no specifics other than the fact it will run for about 20 minutes, so announcements will likely be quite fast-paced.
This is the first Sony event since last month’s PlayStation Showcase, which was full of surprise announcements. The show opened on the long-awaited news of a Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic remake, closing on another fan-pleaser with God of War Ragnarok’s official reveal. Considering these huge reveals were crammed into a 40-minute show, it’s likely that this shorted one could still come with some big news.
As ever, the State of Play can be watched via PlayStation’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.
While PlayStation is keeping quiet about what will be shown off, we can rule out a few big games. Horizon Forbidden West is developed by Guerrilla Games, a subsidiary of Sony Europe, so don’t expect any final trailers before its February launch just yet. We’ll also have to wait a little longer for God of War Ragnarok news, as that is developed by Sony Santa Monica Studio.
It’s been a good week for PlayStation news already, as yesterday we finally got a trailer for the upcoming Uncharted film, starring Tom Holland as Nathan Drake. The reception seems to be fairly mixed, with the trailer performing well on YouTube, while some fans online question the need for a film adaptation at all. The casting of Holland as Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as Sully has also been a point of contention among fans, with some feeling that they do not embody the characters as they appear in the games particularly well.
The PlayStation State of Play will kick off next Wednesday, October 27.
