Pokémon 10 Underrated DragonTypes

When thinking of the most glorious of Pokémon, it is clear that a plethora of them come from Dragon-types. This is entirely understandable, as this classification has a lot of room for interpretation and overall creative freedom. Therefore, as a result of this, it is responsible for some of the most interesting creatures from the entire franchise. Interestingly, it also is a type of Pokémon that is becoming far more prevalent in recent generations. Followers of the series certainly want to see this continue as well, as it is only getting better with them.

Yet, with there being so many large figures from this type, it is a sad truth that some are quite underrated. This can be due to the fact that people wrongly assume that they are weak in battle. In other cases, fans may simply not pay attention to or praise the cool designs that they have, as well. Whatever the specific reason is for each of them, it is apparent that this needs to change. When playing Pokémon games, these Dragon-types can be spectacular finds at the end of the day. The primary objective is to “catch them all,” of course.

10 Dragonair

Dragonair is put in a rough position with its evolution cycle. Its beginning form is the ever so lovable Dratini, while it also evolves into Dragonite. Thus, it seems as though that it is the forgotten member of the trio.

Yet, this is a cool Pokémon itself, as it’s rather large in size and can handle itself when facing opponents. Also, the wings on its head are a very nice touch, too. It is just a breathtaking Pokémon at the end of the day.

9 Altaria

Altaria is a god-like Pokémon in terms of its appearance. This majestic and fluffy beast flies in the air so beautifully. Thus, its elegance alone warrants so much more love from followers of the series.

When it comes to games like Pokémon Go, the players need to appreciate getting it far more, too. This is because it takes 400 Swablu candies just to evolve it to Altaria. Therefore, it’s a long process, but surely worth it in the end.

8 Kommo-o

Koomo-o is the type of Pokémon that is immensely strong but does not seem to be given the same respect as the top-tier ones. Yet, it is a fascinating creation from the series.

It is always a treat when Pokémon merges two types together, which is wonderful with Koomo-o. It is a Dragon and Fighting-type, which is a great mix. It also enhances the way it looks, as it is extremely intimidating with its big size.

7 Gible

For a little Pokémon, Gible is quite feisty. This is especially the case when it comes to the anime series, as it often will bite fellow Pokémon, which is quite humorous. Yet, it does carry over well to its fighting ability, too.

Although it is not in the A-tier level of skill, it sure does well against Pokémon in its weight class. Therefore, it can be quite useful, especially in the beginning stages of games.

6 Dreepy

Dreepy is among the newer Pokémon, as it is a Generation VIII member. Upon first glance, it is easy to assume that it is rather weak, as it is obviously very small in size. Yet, that kind of adds to its flair.

It has yet to make many appearances, either, so it is a Pokémon to pay closer attention to in the future. Another intriguing fact is it not only is a Dragon-type but a Ghost, too.

5 Flygon

Interestingly, Flygon is not a Bug-type whatsoever. This is rather strange, but it is also cool that it is a Dragon-type, regardless. Yet, it does not get the same attention as other legendary Pokémon of its type.

It is kind of disappointing, as this Pokémon has a wonderful design with its mixture of green and red colors. Its large size also helps it when it comes to battle, as it can overpower opponents with relative ease.

4 Flapple

Flapple is another Pokémon from Generation VIII that fans need to show more love to. It is such a weird little creature, as it is worm-like, yet it also is part apple. This alone makes it rather intriguing to pay attention to.

What is also so fascinating about this Pokémon is that it already has a Gigantamax form. Thus, even if it is not the most intimidating of Pokémon, it surely is worth catching in Pokémon Sword and Shield.

3 Goomy

Goomy is another Dragon-type Pokémon that certainly gets overshadowed by the big names of this classification. However, it is a cute little creature, even if it is the weakest Dragon-types in the series.

Yet, it is a Pokémon that warrants praise over its appearance, as it is just so lovable. Sometimes, it is nice just to show appreciation to Pokémon for how sweet they look. Thus, it is still worth catching, even if it is never used in battle.

2 Shelgon

When looking at Shelgon, it is clear that gamers seem to show more love to its original form, Bagon. This is understandable, as Bagon is a small blue dinosaur that looks cooler, too. However, Shelgon actually is worth praising as well.

This Pokémon may be a bit boring to some, as it is almost entirely covered by a monstrous shell. Yet, it is still a fantastic fighter, as it is able to take a lot of damage in the process.

1 Tyrunt

As its Pokémon description states, Tyrunt is a very playful, yet aggressive creature. For being so little, it is able to inflict pretty significant damage against opponents, especially when they are of similar size.

However, it is also very intriguing that the series makes it a Dragon-type, even though it resembles a dinosaur. In the anime series, it also is quite humorous, as its temper problems can result in instant chaos.
