Some of the best Pokémon from the series are Rock-types. This is easy to understand, as some big examples of this are Onix, Golem, and Tyranitar, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Interestingly though, there are not too many in total who are Rock-types, as so far there are only 65. In the near future, it would be marvelous to see this number increase significantly, as they often come up with cool creations that are simultaneously powerful.
Sometimes gamers simply look past Rock-types, which is a shame because these Pokémon can do a lot when put into battle. There is no question that there are Pokémon from other types that are more popular than these underappreciated these Rock-types, but that does not mean that they are bad. In fact, they can be real diamonds in the rough, especially when they evolve into something truly special.
Thus, whether the gamer is playing Pokémon Go or Pokémon Sword , these are great options to have in the Pokédex.
10 Aerodactyl
Aerodactyl is a magnificent beast in the Pokémon world. It surely is massive in size and possesses a good amount of power because of this. Yet, it is often in the shadows of many of the iconic Pokémon of its generation.
With it being from Generation I, it does have a lot of competition. There are a lot of Flying-types, like Charizard and the legendary birds that understandably are loved more. Yet, Aerodactyl is still a marvelous Pokémon in its own right.
9 Omanyte
Omanyte is another interesting Rock-type from Generation I. It evolves into Omastar, so catching as many of them as possible is a smart idea for gamers. Yet, for a pre-evolution Pokémon, it is also quite strong.
It is understandable that this is the case, as it is obtained in one of the last portion of the Kanto Region. However, it is important to remember that this is a fantastic Pokémon to have for battle. Also, it does not hurt that it has a cool design, too.
8 Cranidos
Cranidos is a Pokémon that most followers of the series would likely take lightly at first glance. While this little dinosaur may be small in stature, it is quite combative.
Its scrappiness allows it to succeed in battle, as it is not afraid to charge head-first against enemies. Also, it is impossible not to be a fan of its appearance, as it is a cool interpretation of dinosaur-life.
7 Kabuto
Kabuto is Omanyte’s counterpart, so the pair will forever go hand in hand. Coincidentally, this is also the case when seeing as how Kabuto is underrated as well. For starters, it has a cool design and overall backstory, as it is supposed to be a fossil. Also, it is the type of Pokémon that is worth getting, as it evolves in Kabutops.
6 Lunatone
Lunatone is certainly a Pokémon that fans of astronomy should love, as it is in the shape of a moon. That alone helps its case of being cool, but it also helps that it is a bit intimidating in stature, too.
However, it is a Generation III Pokémon that not too many people think of immediately. What is also so intriguing about this specific Pokémon is that the actual moon increases its power. This storyline is something that fans of the franchise should love, as it offers something entirely different.
5 Cradily
Cradily is the evolved version of Lileep. It is rather peculiar in appearance, as its eyes are actually inside its mouth. Also, it is impossible to ignore the tentacles that shoot out of its head.
Overall, this strange creation warrants a lot of praise for its immense amount of originality. Furthermore, it does not hurt that it also can be successful in battle. This is especially the case when it fights Water-types.
4 Bastiodon
Bastiodon is a very interesting looking Pokémon, as it appears to be a dinosaur of some kind, while also being covered in rocks and steel. Thus, it is extremely strong, which of course helps its ability in battle.
It’s a Pokémon that debuts in Generation IV, but sadly, it is not necessarily among the top-tier from it, in terms of popularity. It is shocking that this is the case, though, as its design is entirely different than anything else from the series.
3 Rockruff
A common theme in this series is that it often creates new versions of dog Pokémon. Most fans are quick to remembering Arcanine or Snubbull for example, but Rockruff is pretty spectacular, too.
Rockruff is a cute little pup that most casual followers may assume is a Normal-type. However, the element of surprise that comes from it being a Rock-type warrants praise alone. Also, with it having multiple evolved forms, it is certainly worth catching at every turn.
2 Probopass
Probopass is a Pokémon that every person on the planet should pay attention to. Its design alone is marvelous, as it is a rock structure that possesses a monstrous nose and a very thick mustache.
It is impossible not to chuckle a bit after seeing it for the first time, so from a comedic standpoint alone, it warrants the underrated label. Also, it is surprisingly a good Pokémon to use in battle.
1 Stakataka
Looking at Generation VII, there is perhaps no Pokémon that is as massive as Stakataka. This alone makes it an appealing Pokémon to add to the Pokédex.
Yet, the series warrants a plethora of praise for coming up with such a strange, yet monstrous creation. It is a Pokémon that is literally meant to be a tower, and that is just such innovative thinking. With it being a newer Pokémon and an Ultrabeast, many passive fans of the series may not even know of its existence. This certainly needs to change.
