The Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ are Pokémon GO accessories created by Brook, designed to auto-capture Pokémon and spin Pokéstops while players are on the move. The Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ both fit into waterproof watch bands, providing a comfortable and discreet appearance that works for any Pokémon GO aesthetic.

Both the Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ are just over an inch long and have sleek, durable, plastic casings. The Reviver+ is entirely black, without an obvious button, while the Dia+ has a black or white gemstone set over the button. Both Auto Catchers fit into silicon, waterproof wristbands that have a good range of adjustability for size. The band is comfortable to wear and doesn’t rub or pinch despite the Auto Catcher devices being a bit bulky when snapped into place. Pokémon GO players can set their Reviver+ or Dia+ to vibrate when Pokémon or Pokéstops are encountered, as well as to alert the player if the device has become disconnected. Both the Dia+ and Reviver+ have an 18-hour battery life, and charge quickly, allowing for long uptimes when playing.

To use the Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+, Pokémon GO players will need to download Brook’s app Pocket Center from their phone’s app store. While this information is provided on Brook’s website, it is not included in the directions sent with the Dia+ and Reviver+, which can cause some confusion when initially pairing with the user’s phone. Players also cannot have the Pocket Center app and Pokémon GO open at the same time, which is not covered in Brook’s set up directions. The Pocket Center app will allow players to toggle a handful of settings for which Pokémon to catch, whether or not to spin Pokéstops, and how vibration notifications function. Once these are set up, players will want to close out of the app and open Pokémon GO to pair the Dia+ or Reviver+ and will have to continue to close out and reopen either app to adjust settings.

Once paired, the Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ do a fairly good job of capturing Pokémon and spinning nearby Pokéstops. Players will see increased success with either device by only having one option active at a time, especially in areas that spawn a large number of Pokémon, or locations with numerous Pokéstops. However, when the devices are active, Pokémon GO can hang and freeze repeatedly, requiring players to restart Pokémon GO numerous times to reset the Auto Catchers. Players also can’t choose which balls are being used from their inventory, with the Reviver+ and Dia+ only using basic Poké Balls instead of Great or Ultra Balls. Because of the lower success rate of Poké Balls, the Reviver+ and Dia+ can burn through a player’s Poké Ball count and then stop catching Pokémon entirely. A patch to the app allowing players to choose which ball is being used would increase the benefits of the Auto Catchers.

The biggest setback of the Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ are the screens for display. While the Auto Catchers will show visual notifications for connection status, caught Pokémon, Pokéstop spins, or failed catch attempts, the screen isn’t visible when in direct sunlight. For anyone playing outside, the only way to know if the Auto Catchers are connected and functioning is to open the phone and check on Pokémon GO. When functioning, players will see pink arrows over Pokémon being caught and stops being spun, and the Auto Catcher icon on the right-hand side of the screen will be lit up. However, because the Reviver+ and Dia+ are meant to eliminate having a phone out for menial tasks in the game, this can be an annoying setback.

The Pocket Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ are good accessories for those who want to spin stops while on a walk, or who want to fill out their Pokémon GO Pokédex without hours of screen time. However, they may not be a good fit for those who enjoy managing their items in-game. They are also poorly suited for big Pokémon GO events due to the freezing caused when the Auto Catchers are overwhelmed. With some overall improvements to the Pocket Center app and increased options for functionality, the Auto Catch Reviver+ and Dia+ could appeal to a wider audience of Pokémon GO players, and help streamline gameplay for busy Pokémon fans.
