Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Legendary Slates Look Like GBA Cartridges
Nintendo reveals more details about the upcoming Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, including interesting items known as Slates.

Nintendo is getting ready to release Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl later this month and continues to unveil details about the upcoming remakes. One key feature in the new games is the Ramanas Park which includes references to older Pokemon titles.
When Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are released, fans will not have imediate access to the new Ramanas Park, as they will have to complete the Elite Four challenge to enter the Hall of Fame first. Once players have completed this gauntlet of Pokemon battles, they’ll be able to search Ramans Park for Legendary Pokemon from other generations. Although some Pokemon fans are looking forward to the addition of more Legendaries to Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, others are celebrating the design of Ramanas Park’s Slates.
Slates are used in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl to summon Legendary Pokemon such as Rayquaza, Entei, Ho-Oh, and Zapdos. This new feature was shown off recently in a video from Nintendo and it hints at the various aspects of Ramanas Park that players can expect. The Slates that were shown in the trailer each feature designs that match their corresponding Legendary’s generation, with the trailer showing off Game Boy cartridge and Game Boy Advance cartridge-inspired Slates.
The GBA-styled Slate spotted during the trailer was noticeably styled around the Legendary Pokemon, Rayquaza. The cartridge featured the same color scheme as Rayquaza, being primarily green with red and yellow accents contrary to a recent Pokemon fan art that imagined Rayquaza as an electric-type. The Game Boy-styled cartridge had a helix DNA strand on the front of it with a grey and purple color scheme, perhaps reflecting the original Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo.
Eagle-eyed Pokemon fans were also able to notice another Game Boy cartridge-styled Slate that was grey with orange, yellow, and blue. This Slate may be the one that’s used to summon Articuno, Moltres, or Zapdos given the fact that the Slates are used in Ramanas Park to trigger encounters with the rare Pokemon. Although Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are remakes of DS titles, if Ramanas Park has more recently released Legendary Pokemon, there may be Slates modeled after the Nintendo DS, 3DS, or Switch cartridges.
Players who are familiar with the original releases of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl may not be familiar with Ramanas Park as the area is a new addition to the games with the remakes. Considering the fact that the Pokemon endgame typically consists of Pokedex completion to many Pokemon masters, Ramanas Park may be their primary location upon completing the Elite Four. It’s currently unclear just how many Legendary Pokemon will join the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl roster through Ramanas Park.
Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl will release on November 19 for Nintendo Switch.
