A new trailer for Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl reintroduces fans to Team Galactic, the villains of the Sinnoh region.

The trailer, shared to The Official Pokémon YouTube channel, starts off by featuring two of Sinnoh’s Gym Leaders: Candice of Snowpoint City and Volkner of Sunyshore City. However, the real stars of the show are Team Galactic. The trailer highlights the team’s unnamed Grunts, its Commanders — Mars, Jupiter and Saturn — and, of course, the leader of Team Galactic: Cyrus.

The trailer concludes by also highlighting the legendary Pokémon that sleep beneath the Sinnoh region’s lakes: Mesprit, Azelf and Uxie. What’s more, the games feature an early-purchase bonus in the form of a Manaphy egg, which will be able to be received in-game through Feb. 21, 2022.

Developed by ILCA, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl are slated to release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in just a few weeks on Friday, Nov. 19. The games serve as remakes of developer Game Freak’s Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl, which originally released for the Nintendo DS in Japan in 2006 and in North America, Europe and Australia in 2007. A third Generation IV game, Pokémon Platinum, released in Japan in 2008 and in other regions in 2009.

Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum featured Team Galactic as their main antagonists. Carrying on the tradition of the franchise’s villainous “teams,” Team Galactic succeeded Team Rocket — who appeared in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, as well as in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal — and Team Magma and Team Aqua, who appeared in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald.

In the original Diamond and Pearl, the goal of Team Galactic’s leader, Cyrus, was to use the Sinnoh region’s legendary Pokémon to reshape the galaxy in his own image, with the player character being tasked with stopping him. Notably, the deity-like Pokémon Arceus — also known as “The Original One” — is said to have created the Sinnoh and Ransei regions, and possibly the entire Pokémon universe itself. Arceus also created the aforementioned trio of lake guardians, as well as the creation trio of Dialga, Palkia and Giratina — all exceptionally powerful Pokémon in their own right who graced the covers of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl and Platinum, respectively.

Developed by ILCA and published by Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl release Nov. 19 for the Nintendo Switch.
