Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl How to Check Friendship Level

There are many different ways that Pokemon can evolve in the Pocket Monster universe. There are evolution stones, different times of the day that affect evolutions, and even a Pokemon’s happiness can be a factor for some evolutions. In Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, players might find themselves with a Pokemon like Chansey or Togepi. These Pokemon mentioned can only evolve when their friendship (or happiness) levels are increased to a certain amount.

Happiness can be increased in a multitude of ways, but unless Pokemon trainers have a particular app on their Poketch, there’s no way to know if a Pokemon’s friendship levels are high or not. Here’s where players can find the Friendship Checker app in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

Where to Find the Friendship Checker App

Once Pokemon Diamond and Pearl players make it to Eterna City for the first time, they should head inside the Pokemon Center. Here, players can heal their party, of course, but they’ll also find a woman with brown hair in the middle of the room. Speak to her, and she will give players the Friendship Checker application for nothing in return at all. The app will automatically be added to the player’s Poketch device that they received at the beginning of the game. This is how a majority of the Poketch applications are obtained in Pokemon Briliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players can scroll through the different Poketch applications, and the new Friendship Checker app will be the one with all of the Pokemon on the team floating around the screen. If players hold the A button over the Pokemon, hearts will come out. The more hearts that the Pokemon has, the happier it is. Players can use this to see how close they are to potentially evolving a Pokemon or to just see how a Pokemon feels towards its trainer.

The only Pokemon that will appear in the Poketch application are the ones in the current party, so if players want to check out the friendship level of a deposited Pokemon, they’ll need to withdraw it and put it into the party.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl are now available for the Nintendo Switch.
