Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl Lake Verity And Snowpoint City Guide

This is part 14 of our official Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl complete guide and walkthrough, which picks up right after you defeat Saturn at Lake Valor. Your next objective is to help Rowan at Lake Verity before heading north towards Snowpoint City.

Your first point of call should be Twinleaf, so Fly there straight from Lake Valor. Now that you’re home for the first time in ages, it would probably be a good idea to say hello to your mam – especially because she’ll heal up your Pokemon. Once your party is back in fighting shape, you need to beeline northwest to Lake Verity, where Professor Rowan and either Lucas or Dawn will be in the middle of a high-octane tussle with Team Galactic.

Your first task here is to beat a couple of grunts, although they’re nothing to phone home about. Once they’re out of the picture, you’ll need to take on Mars, whose infuriating Purugly you’ll probably remember from part four of our walkthrough. Honestly, we reckon this fight is quite a bit easier than the Saturn one despite the fact Mars’ Pokemon are technically higher-leveled. Now that your Pokemon have grown and gained access to more powerful moves, it’s possible that Purugly can be taken out with a single Close Combat. Golbat is easy to incapacitate with a Luxray, while Bronzor will faint with little resistance if hit with a Crunch or Fire-type move.

Once you beat Mars, Professor Rowan will task you with venturing to the third of the three lakes, at which point it becomes obvious that you were always going to have to visit all three. We already mentioned this in parts eight and 12 of our walkthrough, but now it is absolutely essential that you go to the Lost Tower south of Solaceon Town in order to get Strength, as it’s impossible for you to reach Lake Acuity without it. This is also one of the last points in the game where you can catch yourself a Gible with enough time left on the clock for it to be viable to use in the Pokemon League.

What’s that? You’ve got Strength and either have Gible or don’t want it? Excellent. If you’ve been following our walkthrough up until now, there’s a good chance your Pokemon will be decently leveled – if not slightly overleveled – at this point, so you can feel free to head straight on up to Snowpoint City. If only it were that easy…

Truth be told, this is one of the lengthiest, most painful odysseys in the entire game. The good news is that once it’s done, you’ll never have to worry about trekking this far again, but for now you’ll need to dust off your snowshoes and prepare yourself for a war against nature itself. That might be slightly hyperbolic – but only slightly.

Anyway, head to Eterna City and go east to Mt. Coronet. Once you’re inside, use Strength to push towards the right hand side of the cavern. Instead of taking the exit here, which would bring you to Route 211 and Celestic Town, you need to go north all the way to the back of the cave until you can turn left towards a stairs. This brings you to a room covered in fog, so take out your Poketch to get rid of it with Defog. There are tons of items to get in here if you want, although none are particularly valuable. This is also the only location in the game where Feebas spawns, but catching one requires luck, patience, and a sense of conviction I simply do not have. If you, like me, would rather get to Snowpoint first and catch Feebas later, head in a straight line from the stairs to the back of the room, where you’ll be able to take another set of stairs up to the next cave. From here, do a U-turn around the cave and go out through the opening to reach Route 216. Unfortunately, you can no longer use your bike due to the harsh weather conditions, so from here on out you’ll be on foot.

You can battle all the trainers here if you want, but if you’re trying to cut a long journey short, just go back and forth across the bridges on the upper level until you reach a stairs just after the last one. Head down and continue west until you see a house. This is Snowbound Lodge, a welcome safe haven where you can rest in a bed to heal up your party. Once you’re finished here, head north to Route 217. There’s a blizzard raging here, so it’s important to note that any battles you trigger will be susceptible to the Hail weather effect.

It’s important that you collect the HM for Rock Climb here. If you’re unsure of how to get it, we have a separate guide with a step-by-step breakdown of where to find Rock Climb in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. Once you’ve collected the HM from above the hiker’s house, head northeast and you’ll come across another house. If you go inside, an old woman will give you the Spell Tag. Interestingly enough, if you come back here later on, this woman will be gone. The general consensus among Pokemon connoisseurs is that she was a ghost. Spooky!

Just north of the house you’ll find the Ice Rock, which is where you’ll need to go if you want to evolve Eevee into Glaceon. If that’s not on the agenda now, go west of the house until you reach the edge of Route 217 and then head north past the karate guy running up and down. From here, head directly north to Acuity Lakefront, which will be guarded by two Galactic grunts. Given that you can’t get inside, your only remaining course of action is to go east to Snowpoint City. Get yourself to the Pokemon Centre as soon as possible and give your party a much-needed break – after spending that long on the road, they most certainly deserve it.
