Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl are full of Pokemon and items to collect across the expansive Sinnoh region. One of the most useful items you can find in Sinnoh is Heart Scales because they allow you to teach your Pokemon moves they have forgotten by speaking with the Move Tutor.
A powerful moveset is a very important part of a Pokemon, so customizing it in the best way possible is essential for competitive battling. Below you can find out how to meet the Move Tutor and Move Deleter, as well as how you can find Heart Scales in Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl.
Where Is The Move Tutor?
You can reteach your Pokemon a move by traveling to Pastoria City. The Move Tutor’s home is next to the left side of the lake. The exact house is in the above picture. You have to pay Heart Scales to the Move Tutor to relearn a move.
Where Is The Move Deleter?
The Move Deleter can help you customize your Pokemon’s moveset even more, and you can find this character in Canalave City. The Move Deleter is inside the house behind the Poke Mart, as you can see in the picture above.
How To Get Heart Scales
There are two ways to get Heart Scales in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl. You can find Heart Scales in the Grand Underground or at a few specific locations. Here’s a guide to each method.
The Grand Underground
The Grand Underground is an expansive area where you can battle Pokemon and mine for treasures. When you’re running around inside the tunnels, you’ll occasionally come across shiny points on the walls.
When you interact with the area, you can enter a mining mini-game to search the wall for treasure. However, you have to limit your mining to certain parts of the wall because you can only hit it so many times before you destroy the area. This means that you can’t always retrieve every item, so you need to prioritize the objects you want the most.
One of the items you can encounter while mining is Heart Scales; however, they’re somewhat rare. If you spend a lot of time in the Grand Underground, then you’ll probably come across at least a few Heart Scales throughout your journey.
Set Locations With Heart Scales
Although the Grand Underground is great for Heart Scale hunting, you won’t always receive a Heart Scale while mining the walls. If you need a Heart Scale quickly, then you should search the spots where you are guaranteed to encounter a scale. The first Heart Scale is on the left side of the Honey Tree near Route 212. You need to search around the muddy area to find the scale.
If you need a second Heart Scale, then you need the travel to Route 214 and search the patch of grass inside the fence, as you can see in the image above.
