Pokémon Café Mix is a brand new puzzle game available for the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices. The game gives players a chance to run their very own Pokémon Café from the ground up. As they continue to successfully serve Pokémon, satisfied customers will eventually ask to become staff members at the café.

While there’s no fighting in this charming puzzle game, players will still need a keen eye when it comes to choosing a Leader Pokémon at the beginning of each order. What’s a Leader Pokémon?

Before beginning an order, you can choose a Pokémon to be the “leader” for that particular dish. Whoever you pick as your leader will accompany you when you’re fulfilling an order. Only one Pokémon can be a leader at the time, but you can change up the leader Pokémon every order, depending on the order type and your personal preference.

How To Decide On a Leader

With the exception of your starter Pokémon Eevee, every Pokémon has its own unique specialty (e.g. Charmander’s specialty is “Drinks”, Slurpuff’s is “Sweets”, Scorbunny’s is “Small Plates”) as well as their own unique café skill. It is always recommended to pick the Pokémon whose specialty matches the order, as you can gain an extra bonus point upon the dish’s successful completion!

How To Set a Leader Pokémon

After clicking the “Order” button on the Pokémon Café Mix’s main screen, you will see a little yellow rectangle with a ribbon on the top left corner. Whichever Pokémon icon is in this box will be your leader for the order. Directly underneath that, you’ll see another light yellow rectangle with the words “Good fit!” at the bottom. If you have Pokémon whose specialties match your upcoming order, they’ll appear there.

To set the Pokémon, you can either click on the top yellow rectangle and manually go through your entire staff roster and pick your leader, or you can just click on the icon in the “Good fit!” rectangle to set it automatically.

Pokémon Café Mix is currently available for the Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android mobile devices. Both versions of the game are currently free to play.
