Pokémon has been in the news a lot recently with some record-breaking sales of some of the rarer cards in Japan with the Pikachu Illustrator card reaching an estimated $230,000 and Mewtwo Trainer card for $90,000. The appetite for the Pokémon TCG remains high for what now is the 90th set released in the US.

The latest expansion for the Pokémon Card Game has been announced. Champion’s Path see players return to the Galar region based upon Great Britain and made famous by Pokémon Sword and Shield. There are over 70 new cards to collect and they are available as single boosters, or as part of special promotional box sets that will include a Gym badge. The projected release schedule for Pokémon Champion’s Path is as follows.

September 25th

  • 3 x Pin Collection Sets that include a Gym Badge, foil card and 3 x  boosters. Gym badges available are for Milo’s Turffield Gym, Nessa’s Hulbury Gym, and Kabu’s Motostoke Gym.
  • 1 x Elite Trainer Box including two pin badges, a Gigantamax Charizard that can be used in the new Raid Mode for Pokémon Duel, ten boosters, dice, and rulebooks.
  • 1 x Dupwool V Collection featuring a Dupwool V promo card, an over-sized Dupwool V art card, and 4 x boosters. Unfortunately, no Gym badges in this set.

October 2nd

  • 2 x Special Pin Collections. Alongside the 6 x boosters and 2 x foil cards, each set features 2 x pin badges per Gym. Stow-on-Side and Circhester Gyms are represented.

October 23rd

  • 1 x Hatterene V Collection featuring Hatterene V promo card, an over-sized Hatterene V art card, and 4 x boosters. There are no Gym badges in this set
  • 1 x Marnie Special Collection that includes, 2 x pin badges, 2 x foil promo cards, and eight boosters.Unfortunately for our European cousins, they will be receiving a different Marnie pack that only features one pin badge, one foil card, and five boosters.

November 13th

  • 3 x Pin Collection Sets that include a Gym Badge, foil card, and 3 x  boosters. Gym badges available are Opal’s Ballonlea Gym, Piers’ Spikemuth Gym, and Raihan’s Hammerlocke Gym.

This expansion set is looking to be one of the best released in recent years and we can’t wait to start playing. As per usual, these will be available from all good toy and game stores.
