Pokemon Fan Reveals Impressive Cynthia Cosplay

The Pokemon franchise always seems to bring out fans’ creativity as they pay homage to series in numerous ways, from cosplay to fan-made games and remakes. Last month, the official Generation four remakes Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were revealed, and in celebration one fan has revealed an impressive cosplay of the Sinnoh region’s champion, Cynthia.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are due out later this year and will take players back to visit Sinnoh for the first time in twelve years. One of Sinnoh’s most fondly remembered characters is Cynthia, who is still considered by many to be the strongest Champion in the series’ history – something many fans appreciate more and more as Pokemon games seem to get easier.

With these remakes on the horizon, Instagram cosplayer KawaiiQueen posted an impressive Cynthia to her account that captures the powerful presence of this Pokemon League Champion, who often ranks first in lists of powerful trainers. Dressed in her iconic black outfit and holding a Pokeball, KawaiiQueen’s Cynthia stands ready for battle. The caption for the post quotes the champion’s speech before the battle, reading, “I, Cynthia, accept your challenge as the Pokémon League Champion! There won’t be any letup from me!!”

This is not KawaiiQueen’s first Pokemon cosplay, as she has also cosplayed as Pokemon Sword and Shield’s Marnie, a popular choice for cosplayers, and Pokemon Trainer Molly from the third Pokemon movie. All of her photos are impressive, and feature a lot of details for fans to pick out.

Fans had been awaiting news of generation four remakes for some time before they were officially announced last month. While some were excited to revisit the Sinnoh region, many others were disappointed in the game’s graphics. Some players were expecting the games to look more like Pokemon Sword and Shield, and one fan even went so far as to create a more realistic trailer for the game. Of course, some fans embraced the chibi-like art style and made comparisons to the remake of The Legend Of Zelda: Link’s Awakening.

Interest in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl could start building again if recent rumors about Mega Evolution returning are to be believed. Mega evolution proved to be a popular mechanic when it was introduced in Pokemon X and Y, and many fans were disappointed to see it removed in Generation eight. If the rumors are true and Mega Evolution is making a return, Cynthia will be even more intimidating with a Mega Garchomp by her side.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are set to release on Nintendo Switch in late 2021.
