Pokemon GO Adds Eight New Raid Bosses

Yesterday was a big day for Pokemon GO fans, as a slew of new third generation Pokemon were added to the popular mobile game. Not only were new Pokemon added, but Niantic has also introduced eight new raid bosses that Pokemon GO players should start seeing at raids all over the world.

For level 1 raids, Pokemon GO players will find Snorunt and Swablu added to the mix. Swablu requires 400 candy to evolve, but it seems to be extremely easy to find out in the wild. Snorunt was common during the game’s Christmas event, but has become less so in recent weeks. Snorunt has a gen 4 evolution that isn’t in the game yet, though, so it may be worth completing raids to collect more of them.

Level 2 raids have seen the addition of Dewgong, the evolved form of Seel. Level 3 raids, meanwhile, have added the likes of Piloswine (who also has a gen 4 evolution to keep in mind), Jynx, and Azumarill.

Level 4 raids will now host Feraligatr, the fully evolved form of gen 2 starter Totodile. Typically, players would need to collect 50 Totodile candy to evolve it to Croconaw, and then obtain an additional 100 candy to get Feraligatr. If players have powerful enough Pokemon and a solid raid group, then they should be able to save themselves a lot of time by taking on Feraligatr in a raid.

The most obvious new raid boss is the dragon/flying-type Rayquaza, which has replaced Kyogre as the new legendary raid boss in the game. However, defeating and catching Rayquaza isn’t going to be an easy feat, so players will want to make sure they properly prepare themselves for a tough fight.

Dedicated Pokemon GO players will likely appreciate the addition of new raid bosses to battle in the game, but others would like to see some drastic changes made to the raid system. More specifically, the EX Raid system has been widely criticized by the community, as it has made it almost impossible for the vast majority of players to add Mewtwo to their collections. Niantic has issued an apology for its implementation of EX Raids in the past, but it’s unclear if the company plans on making any changes to appease angry players.

Pokemon GO is available now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
