The addition of Adventure Sync to Pokémon GO has had players racking up the kilometers whether the app is open or not, and the rewards for doing so are about to get even bigger.

Following the changes made to Pokémon GO over the course of the last 12 months or so, the game is now very different from the one released during the summer of 2016. As great a game as Pokémon GO was that summer, the changes have made it even better. One of the best and most helpful additions from Niantic is something called Adventure Sync.

Adventure Sync

During the early days of Pokémon GO, the most frustrating part of playing the game was the drain on our phone batteries. If we wanted to harvest candies and hatch eggs, the app needed to be open, and hence our batteries would quickly drain. Adventure Sync changed all that. While we can’t catch Pokémon and battle in gyms when the app is closed, if Adventure Sync is enabled, it is still keeping track of our steps.

That means candies are being gathered by our buddy Pokémon and eggs are inching closer to being hatched even when we’re not playing the game. We’re also rewarded at the end of each week judging by how far we’ve walked. There are three levels of Adventure Sync rewards: 5 km, 25 km, and 50 km. The further you walk each week, the bigger the rewards.

New Adventure Sync Level & Rewards

Thanks to dataminers, we now know that an even bigger Adventure Sync threshold is on the way – a 100 km barrier with a ton of rewards, according to Pokémon GO Hub. Should players walk or run 100 km in a week once this tier is unlocked, they will receive a boatload of rewards for doing so. The bounty will include five ultra balls, a 10 km egg, and best of all, a whopping 16,000 stardust.

When Will It Be Available?

As for when this mysterious fourth 100 km tier will be available, that’s currently unknown. The work has clearly been done though, as is plain to see from above, so it’s just a case of Niantic opening it up to the world. Clearly, enough trainers have been topping 100 km a week, otherwise, Niantic wouldn’t have bothered adding the tier to Adventure Sync.

Whenever it officially becomes available, trainers are going to have to do some serious walking and running to surpass that barrier.
