Now that the new year has arrived, Pokemon GO moved on from its winter holiday event and straight into an egg hatching-themed extravaganza. In addition to all of the hype around egg bonuses, players also have a new rotation of Raid Bosses to fight and catch.

As always, a few Pokemon GO bosses from the previous rotation stuck around, but there are also some fresh faces appearing in the Battle Raids. Ttar didn’t go anywhere, and the new lineup seems to have a ground, fighting, and water theme. For players who want to use newly acquired Pokemon to help takedown Heatran, those types will be very useful.

Tier 1

  • Shinx (Shiny Possible) ELECTRIC
  • Makuhita (Shiny Possible) FIGHTING
  • Wailmer (Shiny Possible) WATER
  • Buizel WATER
  • Magikarp (Shiny Possible) WATER

Tier 2

  • Mawile (Shiny Possible) FAIRY STEEL
  • Breloom FIGHTING GRASS
  • Croconaw WATER
  • Sandslash GROUND

Tier 3

  • Alolan Raichu (Shiny Possible) ELECTRIC PSYCHIC
  • Machamp FIGHTING
  • Starmie WATER PSYCHIC
  • Donphan GROUND
  • Sharpedo WATER DARK

Tier 4

  • Rhydon ROCK GROUND
  • Tyranitar DARK ROCK
  • Golem ROCK GROUND
  • Alolan Marowak (Shiny Possible) FIRE GHOST

Tier 5

  • Heatran FIRE STEEL

Even for players who don’t need to improve their battle roster against Heatran, there are still some strong, meta-game relevant bosses to battle during this rotation. There are a few duds, as always, but this lineup should be entertaining enough to keep the community busy for most of January.
