As Pokemon GO fans are no doubt well-aware, the mobile sensation’s Worldwide Bloom event is taking place this weekend. Originally named ‘Grass Weekend’, the game’s first mini-event will see a greater number of Grass-Type Pokemon spawning in the wild from May 5th to the 8th.
The Worldwide Bloom the start of Pokemon GO’s micro-events, offering no bonus to experience, candy, or stardust to players alongside the changes to the game. What’s more, there are no special bundles on sale and the much-shorter time period does not bring any new Pokemon to the game.
One of the things that players will find different when logging on this weekend is the greater number of Grass-Types that are present in-game. Here’s a full list of the current Grass-Types that currently have increased spawn rates:

- Ivysaur
- Venusaur
- Oddish
- Gloom
- Vileplume
- Bellossom
- Paras
- Parasect
- Bellsprout
- Weepinbell
- Victreebel
- Exeggcute
- Exeggutor
- Tangela
- Chikorita

- Meganium
- Hoppip
- Skiploom
- Jumpluff
- Sunkern
- Sunflora
The legendary Pokemon Celebi is also part of the second generation, but this tiny event is unlikely to be the introduction of the first mythical Pokemon. John Hanke, CEO of developer Niantic has revealed that legendary creatures will be coming soon, but it seems that we’ll have to wait for much larger-scale event before we see the likes of Mewtwo joining the game’s roster.
The only other feature that the Worldwide Bloom has changed is how long lures last for. Using a lure module will see increased spawns in the player’s surrounding area for six hours instead of the usual thirty minutes.
It’ll be interesting to see what Niantic comes up with next, as the developer starts bringing more regular mini-events to Pokemon GO. Since themed events seem to be a good way of bringing the game’s dwindling fanbase back to the revolutionary Augmented Reality title, offering bonus content around specific dates can only be a good thing for the Pokemon trainer community.
