Anyone who missed out on their chance to catch Rayquaza the last time it was around in Pokemon GO will get another shot next weekend. It has been nearly a year since the last time we saw the Legendary Pokemon, so this will likely be another rare chance to acquire a powerful member of the Weather Trio.

Niantic made the announcement today through the official Pokemon GO Twitter account, where it laid out the details for next weekend’s Special Raid. The event will kick off next Friday, March 15, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET and will run until Monday, March 18. During this period, the Legendary Rayquaza will be available to take on brave trainers.

Before the Special Raid Weekend, Pokemon GO will be keeping players busy with a week-long event called Battle Showdown 2019. The event centers around Fighting-type Pokemon, which will appear more often during this period. The event allows players to encounter a shiny Mankey or shiny Machop, and acquire a new Fighting-type move called Power-Up Punch. As always, there are a variety of other event bonuses as well. Battle Showdown is currently live and will run until March 12.

Appearing in conjunction with the event are new Field Research Tasks for March. Completing the tasks are well worth the effort, as they will reward players with Legendary Pokemon. Since the tasks are happening at the same time as the Fighting-type event, the general tasks will reward players with either a Machop or Mankey.

Beyond Pokemon GO, the next installments of the main Pokemon series were recently announced via their own special Nintendo Direct. Pokemon Sword and Shield will take players on another grand adventure through a new region filled with Pokemon never seen before.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will have trainers traveling through the Galar region, and a preview of the map was shown during the latest Direct. However, rumors are circulating that Nintendo is still hiding one big detail, with the latest buzz suggesting that Pokemon Sword and Shield may actually feature two regions – that is, both Galar and Kalos, the setting of Pokemon X and Y.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS devices.
