Pokemon GO has improved greatly for the players who stuck with it, and this is a very good month to be a Pokemon GO player. Not only is March filled with Legendary Raids, but Pokemon GO is also about to introduce something that players have wanted since the game began.
PVP made its debut in Pokemon GO some time ago, and Trainer battles have been a regular part of the game since, despite their absence from the game’s early life. Now, the ways players can face off against each other is set to evolve with the Pokemon GO Battle League, which brings a host of changes that will alter the way players compete and what they get from doing so.
The Pokemon GO Battle League will allow players to compete against each other on a global scale in a series of rotating Leagues, with players paired up against each other based on their relative power level. Each league has a higher CP limit than the last one, with the first starting on March 13. Each league lasts for about 14 days, so players should be sure to check where they fit in the power structure amid the Great (lowest), Ultra (middle) and Master (highest) leagues.
There are also a pair of events coinciding with the beginning of the first League, each with its own components and rewards. In the three days leading up to the League, players will see Registeel and Cresselia in Five-Star Raids, as well as 2x the normal Stardust rewards for Raid and Trainer battles. During the first three days of the actual League competition, more fighting-type Pokemon will roam the wild, the number of League battles a player can engage in will be 7 instead of the normal 5, and there will be a Stardust bonus for matches in the Pokemon GO league.
Whether players will measure up to the toughest Raid bosses in Pokemon GO is unclear, but the League will no doubt bring to light what the absolute strongest strategies are on a global scale faster than gathering data any other way.
There are, of course, other reasons to be excited about this March for Pokemon GO players, including this month’s Research Tasks. On top of that, the aforementioned Legendary Weekend Raids will be in full swing, even as the League comes into effect, so there is still much PVE action to be had.
Players may want to look up effective PVP Pokemon GO battle strategies now to get ahead of the competition, but odds are nothing can properly prepare players for the world-wide clash that the League will bring.
