To bring more of a competitive edge to the game, Niantic is bringing a new battle event for Pokemon GO fans to partake in. And as many players know, having the best team for any Pokemon League is ideal for getting the upper hand over their opponent.

The new element cup, in particular, is a max 500 CP Pokemon Cup that only utilizes pre-evolutionary grass, water, and fire-type Pokemon. And while that does exclude a large amount of eligible Pokemon, there is a huge 2x Stardust reward for participating, so the incentive is still there.

The Element cup started yesterday and will be running until July 12th, 2020. So for Pokemon GO fans looking to stack their team with the strongest possible Pokemon, here are some suggestions for high-ranking options.

Water-type Pokemon

According to PvPoke.com, an online tool for Pokemon GO ranking, Ducklett will be the best possible option for this cup. As a water and flying type Pokemon, it will have access to moves that will be super effective against both grass and fire type Pokemon. Not only that, but Ducklett can also potentially use Brave Bird, which is extremely powerful.

Some other good options would be Piplup with Drill Peck and Icy wind to be super effective against fire and grass Pokemon. Additionally, Chinchou, an electric and water-type Pokemon with Spark and Bubble Beam. Chinchou will also be a good option since it’s the strongest counter for Ducklett, which has a strong chance of being on most trainer’s teams.

Grass-type Pokemon

For Grass-type Pokemon, Cottonee will be one of the best options for the gamer’s party. Cottonee is a Grass and Fairy-type Pokemon, and the combination of Charm and Seed Bomb will prove to have an extreme DPS output for the competition.

Some other good options would be Chikorita with Grass Knot and Body Slam. Chikorita is a grass-type Pokemon with a strong DPS output, is incredibly easy to strengthen, and can synergize with many teams. Shadow Execute will also be useful with its Confusion and Ancient Power to help fight against fire-type Pokemon.

Fire-type Pokemon

For Fire-type Pokemon, Shadow Growlithe is going to be one of the best options available for fans. Shadow Growlithe is supported by high attack and stamina stats, with its best PvP attacks are Ember and Flamethrower fire-type moves.

Some other good options would be Vulpix with both Ember and Weather Ball. However, if Weather Ball proves too much of a Stardust investment, players should stick to Body Slam. Additionally, Tepig will prove to be a valuable asset to the team, with its best moves also being Ember and Flamethrower.

Pokemon GO is available now on Android and iOS devices.
