Pokemon GO Best Palkia Counters For Space Ultra Unlock Event

The Time Ultra Unlock Event is coming to a close in Pokemon GO, but trainers still have a ton of exciting features and bonuses on the way throughout the rest of August. Participants of GO Fest 2021 crushed the Global Challenges, which means that all three Ultra Unlock Rewards were secured. The Space-themed rewards are up next and that means a new wave of special spawns and Battle Raids is right around the corner.

The Pokemon GO Space Ultra Unlock Reward event kicks off on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. and runs through Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During that window, Palkia and Heracross will have their shiny forms released and both will feature in raids. The PoGO PvE metagame has shifted quite a bit since Palkia’s last Battle Raid appearance, so trainers may want to revisit their saved counter roster and make some updates before the big battle arrives at the end of the week.

Palkia is a Water/Dragon-type Pokemon, which makes for a very interesting pairing. Trainers are going to want to utilize strong Dragon- and Fairy-types to take down this Legendary creature. It’s a pretty tough fight, so players should take their time in forming a roster and make sure they have at least a couple powerful counters ready. Dragon-types a little rare in the mobile AR game, so this is going to be one of the tougher rosters to field for more casual or newer players…

Best Palkia Counters

Rayquaza – Dragon Tail/Outrage

Dialga – Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor

Palkia – Dragon Tail/Draco Meteor

Salamence – Dragon Tail/Draco Meteor

Zekrom – Dragon Breath/Outrage

Gyarados (Mega) – Dragon Tail/Outrage

Dragonite – Dragon Tail Outrage

Reshiram – Dragon Breath/Draco Meteor

Garchomp – Dragon Tail/Outrage

Haxorus – Dragon Tail/Dragon Claw

Trainers obviously don’t need to have every one of these Pokemon with the perfect move set to complete the battle and earn an encounter, but it definitely helps to have some strong options for a fight like this. Players will also want to enter the battle with about five other trainers who are also using smart counters. Don’t be afraid to burn through some Stardust, TMs, and Candy while preparing for this fight. Most of these counters are frequently used in the PvE metagame, so the value will likely pay off down the line when newer Legendary Battle Raid bosses arrive in the game or rotate back into the list of bosses in the near future.

In the coming weeks, we should learn more about what other events will be arriving during the rest of the Season of Discovery. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
