Pokemon GO Best Ultra League Premier Cup Teams

The Premier Cup is currently active and available for players in Pokemon GO. This PVP league has the max CP for Pokemon being 2,500. However, there is also a special limit that separates it from other leagues.

When participating in Pokemon GO’s Premier Cup, players are unable to use legendary Pokemon in battle. This includes known powerhouses such as Mewtwo and Giratina.

Because of the limitations that players are stuck with, those who want to rise up the ranks in the Premier Cup cannot rely on the power provided by legendaries. Players however don’t need to worry, as there are plenty of other Pokemon that can dominate the scene without the title of legendary.

The four best Pokemon that are commonly seen in the Premier Cup are:

All of these Pokemon are very hard hitters who can additionally weather out damage. This of course makes them the current meta Pokemon to have on the team. However, there are Pokemon that are considered to be strong against this current meta. These include:

  • Swampert – Mud Shot and Hydro Cannon/Earthquake
  • Magnezone – Spark and Wild Charge/Flash Cannon/Mirror Shot/Return
  • Gyarados – Dragon Breath and Crunch/Hydro Pump
  • Snorlax – Lick and Body Slam/Earthquake

Magnezone is probably the Pokemon that trainers will want most on their teams if they are going for an anti-meta strategy. This is due to its ability to go toe to toe with multiple members of what’s considered to be the meta Pokemon. In order to evolve a Magneton into a Magenezone, players will have to use 100 Magnemite candies as well as be within range of a Pokestop that has a Magnetic Lure on it.

If players are looking to catch any Pokemon that are part of the meta group, getting Togekiss will be a bit easier than usual at this time. This is due to the Togetic raids happening for the Enigma Week event at this time. Togetic evolves directly into Togekiss, allowing players to not have to evolve a Togepi into a Togetic first in order to get a Togekiss. Players will need 100 Togepi candies as well as a Sinnoh Stone in order to get Togetic to evolve.

When battling in the Premier Cup, players should note the importance of playing to type advantage and knowing the best time to switch. As players rise up the ranks, the trainers will only get tougher and tougher, so players shouldn’t feel discouraged if they lose a couple battles.
