Pokemon GO Chikorita Community Day Date Revealed

Pokemon GO’s Eevee-focused August Community Day weekend just wrapped up on Sunday (or Monday counting the evolution time), but it’s never too early to start planning for the next big event. Trainers who participate in September’s big event will have the chance to catch tons of Chikoritas and evolve the Gen 2 starter with a special move.

The official announcement about September’s Community Day comes from Pokemon GO Live and confirms that September 22 will be a Chikorita Community Day in Pokemon GO. And, yes, you read that correctly. Just one day.

After August featured a two-day Community Day event, many players were hoping that trend would continue into the future. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the case. There’s a chance Niantic will announce an extension in the coming weeks, but for now it looks like players are back to the three hour Community Day grind.

“Get out and play together in your local community parks on Pokémon GO Community Day. For just a few hours each month, you can encounter a special Pokémon in the wild. During these hours, there’s a chance to learn a previously unavailable move for that Pokémon or its evolution, as well as earn some Community Day bonuses. Celebrate what it means to be a part of the Pokémon GO community and make new friends along the way!”

In addition to increased Chikorita spawns during the event, players will also have the benefit of 3-hour lures and a 3x XP bonus on catches. There will definitely be an exclusive move revealed at some point in the coming weeks and a shiny variant also seems like a safe bet.

Check back for more details later this month and in early September to find our more about this Community Day and other upcoming events. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
