Pokemon GO fans have big things coming in July. Developer Niantic just announced the date of Pokemon GO’s July 2021 Community Day. During the event, players have the opportunity to gain special rewards for using a specific Pokemon.

The July 2021 Pokemon GO Community Day event begins at 8:00 AM local time on July 3 and ends at 5:00 PM. During the period, players have an increased chance of catching the day’s featured Pokemon, Tepig. Other rewards and opportunities will also be available.

According to a statement posted on Twitter, players will encounter Tepigs much more frequently in the wild. That includes the rare Shiny Tepig, which is orange and yellow instead of the usual orange and black. Players also have access to three special bonuses that make catching Pokemon a little easier during Community Day. Players who use Incense to attract Pokemon gain its benefits for three hours instead of the usual one. Lure Modules will also last three hours when used to attract Pokemon to a PokeStop. Lastly, captured Pokemon will drop three times the usual amount of Stardust during the Community Day event.

Pokemon GO players who use Tepig’s evolution, Pignite, also have something to gain from the event. Players who evolve Pignite during Community Day will get an Emboar who knows the Blast Burn Charged Attack. The ability isn’t available to Emboars by any other means, so Tepig and Pignite owners have a great reason to participate. In addition, players can gain the power for their Pokemon up two hours after the event ends at 5:00 PM.

There is also a special reward for players who take a snapshot during the event. However, Niantic wants players to find out what happens for themselves and hasn’t released any more information. During the event, players can also buy a Community Day Box for 1,280 PokeCoins. It contains 50 Ultra Balls, five Incense, five Star Pieces, and an Elite Charged TM.

Players who don’t mind spending real money can also get access to the exclusive Tepig Community Day-exclusive Special Research story, “Roasted Berries.” Access to The Special Research story costs $1 US or the local equivalent. Notably, it does not come with an unlockable in-game medal. Niantic will announce ticket availability at a later date. All purchase are non-refundable

The Pokemon GO team also wanted to remind everyone to stay safe while participating in the event. Players should always remain aware of their surroundings and continue to follow local public health and safety guidelines.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS devices.
