Pokemon GO Complete Team Rocket Strange Egg Event Guide

Pokemon GO players have a new event to work on for the next week. The Team Rocket Strange Egg Event lasts from October 12 to October 19 and gives players the chance to collect rare 12km eggs. These eggs are the fourth type of egg in Pokemon GO, and they contain valuable Pokemon inside.

The new Pokemon GO Strange Eggs are white with red spots on them, requiring 12km of walking distance in order to hatch. According to the official event, the eggs will still be obtainable even after this week has ended, so trainers don’t need to feel too pressured to collect as many as they can right now. However, players will have 1/4 egg hatch distance during this time, so it might be good to work through many of these eggs for that reason alone.

The eggs themselves are obtained by beating Team GO Rocket Leaders. Sierra, Arlo, and Cliff can be found at Pokestops and in balloons, appearing more frequently during this event. More Pokemon GO changes have been made to Team GO Rocket members as well. They will now use some new Pokemon, including Aerodactyl, Diglett, Shellder, Skarmory, and Slowpoke. After defeating them, Leaders can now leave shiny versions of Drowzee, Growlithe, and Omanyte behind.

Trainers can get many Pokemon from these new eggs, but only from two mains types. Poison and Dark type Pokemon, as well as Pokemon that eventually acquire one of those types, can be found in these new 12km eggs. Notable inclusions are Larvitar, Scraggy, Trubbish, and Vullaby. In addition, Poison and Dark type Pokemon will be appearing more frequently in the wild, including Gulpin, Houndour, Poochyena, Purrloin, Spinarak, and Stunky.

In addition to the eggs, there is new Special Research for players to complete. This research asks players to help Professor Willow investigate the Strange Eggs that have started appearing. The end of this research will have players battle against the Team GO Rocket leader, Giovanni. If players haven’t completed The Shadowy Threat Grows research from earlier in 2020, they must do so before they can begin this new investigation.

The big reward for defeating Giovanni is one of the most sought after Pokemon in the game right now: Shadow Mewtwo. This legendary was previously only available from the Rocket Straight to Victory research. Any player that missed out on it the first time around needs to make sure they snag one for themselves this time. Shadow Mewtwo, as well as these new Strange Eggs, are sure to give trainers plenty of content to enjoy until the Halloween Mega Gengar event begins.

Pokemon GO is available on Android and iOS.
