Pokemon GO Conflicting Reports About Articuno Day (Updated)

Update: Niantic has now confirmed that during the event, all level 5 Battle Raids will feature Articuno.

The original article follows…

Pokemon GO players around the globe worked hard to unlock every tier of reward during the recent Global Challenge event. That means that this weekend players will get a three hour window to hunt down Articuno in Legendary Battle Raids and, hopefully, encounter its shiny form. Although that sounds great, there is already some confusion building around the Pokemon GO event and Niantic support isn’t helping to clear things up very well.

The big question about the event is whether or not Regice will continue to hatch from level 5 eggs during the three hour Articuno Day event. If that’s the case, it’s going to make organizing Raid groups and start times much more complicated. Many players have reached out to Niantic with questions about this, but unfortunately the company is offering some conflicting responses.

So far, there seems to be evidence of Niantic replying with emails explaining that Articuno will be the only Legendary Raid Boss during the event, but other emails saying the opposite. Here are some examples…

It is a little reassuring to see that as more users share their responses from Niantic, the majority seem to suggest that only Articuno will appear during the window. That is definitely the better option, so hopefully the customer service reps who sent those responses know what they’re talking about.

This kind of disorganization leading up to an event isn’t exactly new for Pokemon GO, but hopefully the plans will be a little more clear by the time things kick off this weekend. We’ll be monitoring this event and the Squirtle Community Day to see how things go, so check back for updates throughout the weekend.

Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
