The Pokemon GO May 2021 events calendar is now available and trainers can start planning ahead for the upcoming month. There are just a handful of events, but it should still be a very exciting month thanks to the debut of a handful of new Pokemon. Although the calendar offers a lot of details about what is on the way, the featured Pokemon for May’s Community Day remains a question mark as far as official Niantic announcements go.
That said, the dedicated Pokemon GO dataminers seem to have found plenty of code in the latest teardown that spoils the surprise and unofficially confirms the May 2021 Community Day Pokemon as Swablu. Not only did the dataminers find references to Swablu in the code, but they also found plenty of information about the Community Day Special Research storyline, as well for additional confirmation.
As always, keep in mind that any information that comes from a datamine is completely unofficial and is subject to change until a press release or other announcement from Niantic actually arrives. Considering the fact that May 2021 Community Day is scheduled for halfway through May, it seems very likely that the official announcement will come early in the month, around the first or second week of May, perhaps right after the New Pokemon Snap event comes to a close.
Here is the most important excerpts from the datamine that ties together Swablu with the May 15, 2021 Community Day date and reveals the name of the ticketed research:

The early code doesn’t go into much more detail than that, but trainers can likely expect the Cotton-Winged Bird special research to include the usual number of quests for a Community Day storyline and the typical $1 price tag. Community Day tickets are pretty inexpensive, but they can’t be purchased with in-game coins and do require players to pay with real world money.
As the event approaches, further details about the features, bonuses, and exclusive moves should become available. There is already some early speculation that this Community Day could be laying the groundwork for a Mega Altaria release later this month. There’s no proof of that in the code, so take it with a grain of salt for now until more details arrive.
