Today, the game developer Niantic brought some sizable updates to the popular mobile augmented reality title, Pokemon GO, with the inclusion of Gen 3 Ice and Water-types from Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. Now, the company has also officially included the long-awaited Flying and Ice-type Delibird to the ARG, and the creature is also coming with some extra Stardust.

In the moments following the arrival of Pokemon GO’s holiday event, players made the unsurprising discovery that Delibird is now spawning all around the world. With Delibird being one of two Pocket Monsters first seen in Pokemon Gold and Silver that had not made an appearance in the ARG, players correctly presumed that Niantic had decided to reserve the Flying and Ice-type for the holiday season.

Pokemon GO’s version of Delibird is also giving the bird a “Present” attack as its fast move. For those unaware, Delibird is essentially the Pokemon franchise’s version of Santa Claus, but instead of a rosy-cheeked man with magic powers delivering presents, it’s a rotund penguin-like animal that hands out gifts with its sack-like tail. While some of these presents usually explode and injure their opponents, they can occasionally heal as well.

What’s more is that alongside the Flying and Ice-type’s inclusion in Pokemon GO, players will also get a boosted 250 Stardust for every Delibird they catch, which ought to be appreciated by many trainers worldwide. After all, having as much of the consumable on hand as possible is of great benefit, especially since the effects of Stardust essentially allow players to manually strengthen their Pokemon.

Delibird’s addition to Pokemon GO was not much of a secret to the game’s fans, as the Pocket Monster was not only previously spotted in a promo picture for this year’s holiday event, but also dataminers found the image assets for the creature, as well as noise assets for the aforementioned “Present” attack. All things considered, it’s safe to assume that plenty of Pokemon GO trainers are out to catch as many Delibirds as they can as we speak.

Pokemon GO is available now for Android and iOS.
