Pokémon GO Diamond & Pearl Event Will Celebrate Remakes Release

Niantic has announced a new Pokémon GO event to celebrate the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl this November. This isn’t the first time the Niantic-developed game has celebrated new Pokémon releases, with Pokémon GO recently honoring the new Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle movie with tie-in content.

Pokémon GO players have enjoyed a host of in-game celebrations and events throughout the year, in part thanks to 2021 being the franchise’s 25th anniversary, as well as being five years since the release of Pokémon GO. The mobile game celebrated its anniversary in style over the summer with the highly successful Pokémon GO Fest 2021, and has continued to announce new updates, events, and community days ever since. The latest big Pokémon GO event is putting a spooky spin on the game, adding new Pokémon, Ghost-type raids, costumed characters, and more for Halloween in Pokémon GO.

As revealed in a press release, Pokémon GO will be hosting an in-game celebration for the release of Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, set to launch on Nintendo Switch in November. Honoring their release, Pokémon GO players will be able to enjoy the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Celebration Event, taking place from November 16 – 21. The event will follow on from the Festival of Lights, running from November 5 – 14, and will be followed by The Season of Mischief, beginning November 26.

Unfortunately, Niantic has yet to detail just what the Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Celebration Event will look like, leaving fans in the dark for the time being. It’s likely that a themed Special Research Event centered around the Sinnoh-region games and characters is on the way, similar to previous in-game celebrations. There are already a lot of Generation Four Pokémon in Pokémon GO, but players will perhaps see increased spawn rates for some of the rarer catches, alongside different variants.

Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are the next big releases in the ever-growing series and are set to introduce new audiences to the Sinnoh adventures. The upcoming games are full remakes of the Nintendo DS’ Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, first released on the handheld console in 2006. Players will be able to enjoy a host of game improvements over the original titles, including new online features and updated 3D Pokémon visuals. The games will launch on November 19.
