That, in turn, means new methods for evolution: the Dragon Scale was used for evolving Kingdra in the main Pokémon games by having it hold the item when being traded – a mechanic that’s not in Pokémon Go at all as things stand.
So with that in mind, how do you evolve Seadra into Kingdra, and likewise how do you get the Dragon Scale in Pokémon Go?.
The answers to all that can be found below, but while you’re here, it’s worth noting that there are several other new, special evolution items which work in precisely the same way: the the Sinnoh Stone, the Metal Coat for Steelix and Scizor, the King’s Rock for Slowking and Politoed, the Sun Stone for Bellossom and Sunflora, and the Up-Grade for Porygon2.

How to evolve Seadra into Kingdra in Pokémon Go
Seadra’s evolution into Kingra back in the main series of Pokémon involved a somewhat convoluted process. Not only did you need to find yourself a Dragon Scale for the evolution, you also needed to find yourself a trading partner, because Seadra had to be traded whilst holding the item in order to evolve.
Now, in Pokémon Go, things are a tad easier. You’ll still need a decent chunk of Candy to evolve Seadra, but there’s no need for the trading partner – you simply need to get your hands on a Dragon Scale and evolve your Seadra from the same in-game menu as you would any other Candy-based evolution.

April 2022 introduces the Silent Schemes event, which requires learning new Leader counters and Giovanni counters. How to get the Dragon Scale in Pokémon Go
With the evolution method itself relatively simple, the only other question is where to find yourself a Dragon Scale in Pokémon Go.
Well, like many other items, it’s mostly down to chance: Dragon Scales are found from Pokéstops, albeit with a twist.
Fortunately, there is some strategy here after all! A special evolution item will drop on the seventh day of your PokéStop Daily Bonus streak. There’s no guaranteeing which evolution item you’ll get, but with only five in the game at least you hopefully shouldn’t have to wait too long to get a hold of all the items you need.
