Pokemon GO Fest 2020 MakeUp Event Announced

Pokemon GO Fest 2020 attendees experienced a lot of technical issues which made the festival less enjoyable. This wouldn’t necessarily be a huge deal if not for the fact that players had to spend $15.99 in order to participate in the festival. To make up for this blunder, Niantic is hosting a makeup event on August 16th.

The issue was worst in regards to habitat blocks, as the Fire, Water, and Friendship blocks were all heavily affected during Pokemon GO Fest 2020. Because of this, these Pokemon will be the main focus of the makeup event occurring midway through August, but that isn’t the only thing coming to the event.

It’s worth noting, however, that this event will only be available to those players that purchased GO Fest 2020 tickets previously. Players that opted out of the special event won’t be able to receive any of the benefits from this one either which, while fair to those that purchased tickets, is kind of a bummer for those that didn’t.

The event will cause Pokemon featured in the Fire, Water, and Friendship habitat hours to appear in the wild and be attracted by Incense at a greater rate. Just like during the actual GO Fest, certain Pokemon can only be found when using Incense, so it would be a good idea to stock up on some. To help with this, Incense will last for an hour during the event as well, so players shouldn’t need much. Additionally, gifts opened during the event have a chance to contain Rare Candy, and a free box will be given to each participating player containing two Incense and two Remote Raid Passes.

Regarding habitats, each of the three aforementioned types will get an hour of dedicated to those types. From 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM local time, Fire type Pokemon such as Charmander, Darumaka, Litwig, and Heatmor will be more prevalent. The next hour (12:00 PM to 1:00 PM local time) features water Pokemon, including Tympole, Alomomola, Chinchou, and Slowpoke. Finally, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM local time, the Friendship Habitat will be active, giving players a chance to collect Clefairy, Chimecho, Togetic, Roselia, and the like.

Two GO Fest themed Unown will also be available to capture, unsurprisingly being the “G” and the “O” unknown. This event takes place on August 16th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM local time, and with the extended incense time, 3 incense will cover the entire event. Hopefully there are no technical issues this time around and fans can get the Pokemon they may have missed during the GO Fest.
