Pokemon GO players all around the world have been challenging members of Team GO Rocket for the Pokemon GO Fest Battle Challenge. While the spawn rates of Team GO Rocket members have skyrocketed, players are also getting more opportunities to challenge the higher-ups from Team GO Rocket.

Out of all those who hold power within Team GO Rocket, the one with the most power and influence is their leader, Giovanni. Defeating him in Pokemon GO is very worth it due to the rewards offered.

Of course, Giovanni is no pushover when it comes to battling. Players will need to pull out all the stops in order to take him down.

Giovanni can have three different possible Pokemon in his second slot in his party during the battle with him. These Pokemon are:

• Nidoking
• Dugtrio
• Garchomp

If players are defeating during their encounter with Giovanni and choose to challenge him again within the same encounter, Giovanni’s party will stay the same. This will make planning around his second party member much easier.

Garchomp is a dual ground and dragon-type Pokemon. It additionally has the title of a pseudo-legendary Pokemon due to its high stats. Due to its typing, it is weak to ice, dragon, and fairy-type moves. However, it also resists electric, poison, rock, and fire-type moves.

Out of all its weaknesses, ice is the best one to take advantage of. Unlike the other weaknesses that only have a 2x damage multiplier, ice-type moves will deal 4x the amount of damage due to both ground and dragon-types having a weakness against ice-type moves.

The best ice-type fast attacks to use against Garchomp is Frost Breath. However, there are multiple options for charge moves to take advantage of. They are:

• Avalanche
• Blizzard
• Ice Beam

When it comes to specific Pokemon, there are the best ice-types to help defeat Garchomp.

• Kyurem
• Galarian Darmanitan
• Mamoswine
• Glaceon
• Weavile

While players put their teams together to defeat Giovanni, they should be careful about his last party member, which is Suicune. Players should also note that Giovanni will put up a very difficult fight where players can find their teams getting easily beaten over even with type advantages on their side.
