Pokemon GO Giratina Origin and Altered Forme Coming to Raids
After Dialga rotates out as boss, Pokemon GO players will be able to take on Altered forme Giratina again and then Origin forme Giratina in Pokemon GO raids.

Pokemon GO players only have a few more days to complete legendary Dialga raids until the legendary Steel/Dragon-type is rotated out and replaced by the returning Ghost/Dragon-type Giratina. Not only will this be a second chance to obtain the legendary Pokemon’s original form, dubbed the Altered forme, but players will also be able to add its stronger Origin forme to their collections shortly after.
Before Giratina’s Origin forme comes to raids, the Altered forme returns as the Tier 5 Pokemon GO raid boss from March 27 to April 2 (beginning and ending at 1 PM PDT). These two formes are very similar stat-wise in Pokemon GO, with the two having the same stamina and move set. However, their attack and defensive stats are swapped, with the Origin forme having a strong attack and the Altered forme having a stronger defense. Because of this, Origin forme Giratina also has a slightly better CP value.
Once the Altered forme rotates out, Giratina’s Origin forme will come to Pokemon GO raids for the first time and run from April 2 through April 29 at 1 PM PDT. Pokemon GO fans may want to note that the first form to appear in-game, Giratina Altered Forme, is the quadrupedal Giratina whose appearance is altered when it is in the human world. Giratina Origin forme refers to the flying, legless appearance that it takes in the Distortion World or, in the core RPGs, when holding a Griseous Orb.

This raid opportunity gives players who missed out on Altered forme Giratina a second chance to add it to their collection as well as the first shot at origin forme Giratina, which will likely be a popular decision. After all, Giratina is one of the most popular legendary Pokemon currently available in Pokemon GO, though many are also anxiously awaiting the addition of the fan-favorite Dark-type legendary Pokemon, Darkrai.
For the seasoned raiders of Pokemon GO, it’s worth mentioning that Giratina’s two forms aren’t the only currently appearing in Raids. Defense Form Deoxys is now set to appear in EX Pokemon GO Raids beginning March 25, so plenty of players may want to be doing all they can to get these legendaries over the next few weeks.
