Pokémon GO GO Fest Week 2 BattleBased Challenges And Rewards

GO Fest 2020 is fast approaching and with week one of the timed research building to it almost over, it’s time to look ahead to week two.

Despite the ongoing global pandemic, GO Fest 2020 will go ahead, just not as planned. Well, we’re assuming this isn’t what Niantic had in mind anyway. Past GO Fests have taken place in cities around the world, allowing Pokémon GO trainers to flock together and play. This year, GO Fest is everywhere, and anyone in the world will be able to buy a ticket and take part.

On top of that, there are three timed research events taking place in-game to mark the build to GO Fest 2020. Even better, there’s no ticket needed to take part. Trainers reading this on the day the article was published have a few hours left to complete the skill-based timed research for week one. Those reading this after 10 pm local time on July 8, 2020, time’s up.

Don’t beat yourself up too much though as on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 8 am local time, week two’s timed research will begin. With trainers’ skill now honed, for those who took part, it’s time to focus on battling. The nine tasks that will make up the research are yet to be revealed, but chances are they will revolve around taking part in the Battle League, competing in raids, and competing against fellow trainers.

Some of the rewards up for grabs for completing research tasks include encounters with Hitmonlee and Absol, as well as a Super Rocket Radar which should help trainers with the ongoing invasion. More importantly, is what trainers will need to do in order to influence GO Fest 2020. If one million Instinct trainers complete the research, Ferroseed will be added to the list of GO Fest Pokémon. The same contribution from Team Mystic will result in the addition of Alolan Grimer, and Alolan Marowak should one million Team Valor members complete all three stages of the research.

As was the case with week one and the skill-based challenges, completing all three stages will also unlock the GO Fest Elite Battle Challenge for any trainers who pull off the feat. There will also be a battle-themed event taking place over the weekend. Information is scarce, but it will take place between 11 am and 2 pm on Sunday, July 12. Trainers will have until 10 pm local time on July 15 to complete the battled-themed timed research.
