Pokemon GO Halloween Event Announced

Pokemon GO players still have one bonus day of the Equinox event left, thanks to an extension, but it’s never too early to start looking ahead to the next event. Many players will spend the next week or two hunting down the new legendary beast in their region, but after hype dies down it will be time for another spooky scary Halloween event in the mobile AR game.

Last Halloween’s event was the very first in-game Pokemon GO holidays and players found increased spawns on scary pokemon and bonus candy for about a week. Players have been hoping for a similar event this year, this time with some gen 2 increased spawns, and it seems they are going to get their wish.

The Pokemon Company offered a series of seasonal updates for the franchise today, including confirmation that there will be a Halloween event in Pokemon GO this month…

“Ghostly Goodies in Pokémon GO

The Halloween season is a special time in Pokémon GO. Plenty of good stuff is coming to the game later this October, and we can’t wait to get out and about to see what sort of excitement we can scare up while catching new Pokémon to fill out our Pokédex.

Stay tuned for more details about Pokémon GO’s Halloween event coming soon!”

Last year’s event kicked off on October 26 and ran through November 2, so we can likely expect a similar time frame this year. The official trailer and event details were released two days prior to the Halloween event last year.

There are definitely some gen 2 pokemon that could be added to the list of increased spawns, but it’s also possible that Niantic will go in a different direction this year. The company does have battle raids to work with now, so there’s a chance the event will have a different gimmick or some other carrot on a stick to chase around.

We’ll post the full details of the event as soon as they are released. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
