Pokemon GO How to Beat Azelf in Raids

Pokemon GO recently added the Lake Trio to the game, meaning fans can now add Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit to their collection. Initially, Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit were only found in the wild, but now they have been added to legendary raids in the popular mobile game. Despite their small stature, the Lake Trio can still put up a serious fight in Pokemon GO, and so it’s important for Pokemon trainers to face them with a team of strong Pokemon.

Right now, Azelf, Uxie, and Mesprit are region-exclusive Pokemon, with Azelf exclusive to the Americas, Uxie exclusive to Asia, and Mesprit exclusive to Europe. This guide will focus on Azelf counters to help Pokemon GO players in the Americas defeat Azelf in legendary raids and add the rare Pokemon to their collection.

Here are the best Pokemon to use to beat Azelf in raids:

  • Giratina (Origin) – Shadow Claw/Shadow Ball
  • Mewtwo – Psycho Cut/Shadow Ball
  • Gengar – Shadow Claw or Lick or Hex/Shadow Ball
  • Tyranitar – Bite/Crunch
  • Weavile – Feint Attack/Foul Play
  • Honchkrow – Snarl/Dark Pulse
  • Absol – Snarl/Dark Pulse
  • Houndoom – Snarl/Foul Play

Of course, it’s worth mentioning that some of the moves listed above are legacy moves and no longer available in the game. So it’s possible a Gengar with Shadow Claw or Lick as their fast move just won’t be in the cards for a Pokemon GO player looking to take on Azelf. However, they can use other Pokemon on the list as substitutes.

A couple of the Pokemon on the list also require Sinnoh Stones to evolve, which may make them harder to come by. For example, players will need a Sinnoh Stone to get Weavile, and they will also need one to get Honchkrow. Due to how common Murkrow is in Pokemon GO, though, it should be a little easier to get Honchkrow than Weavile.

Once Pokemon GO players have a solid team put together to fight Azelf, the next step would be to find at least a few more high level Pokemon GO players to take into the fight. With a proper team assembled, players then just need to fight Azelf in a legendary raid and then attempt to catch it to add it to their collection.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
