Pokemon GO’s Halloween 2020 event is set to begin this Friday, October 23, and it will give players a chance to celebrate the season’s spookiest holiday in-game. PoGO fans will not be the only ones getting into the holiday spirit, though, as two Pokemon will be donning their favorite Halloween costumes during this year’s event. Those Pokemon are Gengar and Sableye, and players that want to catch the costumed variants of these Pocket Monsters should be aware of several key details.

The first thing to know about catching costumed Gengar and Sableye in Pokemon GO is that they will only appear from October 23 at 6pm PDT to November 3 at 6pm PDT. While this mean that players do have a reasonable amount of time to track down these Pokemon, they should still keep an eye on the time. Indeed, with so many activities occurring during the Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 event, simply forgetting to catch a costumed Gengar and Sableye within the aforementioned dates is a very real possibility.

With the dates of availability established, it is now possible to detail the sources of costumed Gengar and Sableye in Pokemon GO, and they differ across that two Pokemon. For costumed Gengar, players will need to turn their attention to raids, as those are the only places where it will appear. Costumed Sableye, on the other hand, will both appear in the wild and hatch from Eggs, making it quite likely that fans will encounter one through standard gameplay.

As alluded to previously, catching costumed Gengar and Sableye is only a small part of the Pokemon GO Halloween 2020 event, and there are many other ways for fans to keep themselves occupied over the course of its 11-day duration. For example, players will be able to enjoy a new Special Research story during the event, titled A Spooky Message Unmasked, which centers around uncovering the mysteries surrounding Galarian Yamask.

There will also be a special Halloween Cup for GO Battle League fans to enjoy, as well as an event-exclusive Timed Research on Catch Mastery: Ghost Day. Additionally, there will be an overall increase in the appearance of Ghost-type Pokemon, which is sure to excite fans of Pocket Monsters like Gastly, Spiritomb, and beyond. This is not even the full extent of the Halloween 2020 event, though, and again players should make sure to carve out some time amidst these activities to find their costumed Gengar and Sableye.

Pokemon GO is out now for iOS and Android mobile devices.
